NFC RULES...AFC DROOLZ

Turns out Indy should have at least 8. Tarrick Glenn was told by the league he had made it. Then the league rescinded saying turns out Johnathan Ogden had been voted in instead. I just saw Tony Dungee in an interview getting as angry as I ever seen him about the huge gaff committed against his player by the NFL. Can you imagine being told you,ve made it then having it taken away. Hey how hard can it be for the NFL to get this right. "No Fun League" strikes again. Tony is the coach and should grab Tarrick as his selection but still Ogden for sure is a HOF player but clearly Glenn has outplayed him this year.

"No Fun League" strikes again. If this happened (got a link?), it was a stupid move by the NFL, sure, but I highly doubt that they're intentionally trying to make anyone sad.

I wish they would annnounce these after the playoffs. Don't they do the same thing with the MVP? Announce it before the Super Bowl? That ain't right. Well, since it is out there, congrats to Alan Faneca, Jeff Hartings, Joey Porter, and my favorite player Troy Polamalu!

"computer error" I was ducking a swinging fry pan from skydivemom when I was typing that. Seems I forgot to take out the garbage again. Sorry

I don't entirely understand. The column head says "starters", but clearly that can't be the case. That's the full roster, then?

lbb The starting lineups will be announced Jan 7th. Another opportunity for the NFL to sell some air time!

I voted for TO. I bet he received enough to play. Conspiracy I tell ya.

Man, I though the 49ers might at least get Nedney or Julian Peterson voted in. I hear our Gatorade-filler is top-notch.

And how about some snubs? I say Keith Bulluck, Joey Galloway and Ken Lucas. What about you?

My God, the NFC quarterbacks are WEAK!! I'll agree with Hasselbeck, but the other two must have been the ones who were "least bad." With those receivers, maybe even Vick will be able to connect with them.

panoptican I like your list Here's my short "snubs" list: AFC Rudy Johnson Cincy 1352 yds rushing more than San D. LT has 1323. DE Aaron Schobel, Kyle Vanden Bosch(2nd in NFL Sacks) they,ve got to be kidding with putting Jason Taylor ahead of these guys! Hell, Pyrce deserves to go also over Taylor NFC DE Ogunlye, Alex Brown, CB Charles Tillman Punter Brad Maynard I'll have some more to say later when I've got some time to look things over.

T.O. didnt make it...the only eagle that made it was Trotter, but he should of made it. im glad Eli didnt make it...he really sucks this year.

How the #$%@@@ did Alex Smith get left off the NFC QB list? forget TO, this is the real conspiracy! Tagliabue, your days are numbered.

Can you imagine being told you,ve made it then having it taken away. That happened to me in Speech Arts competition, grade 8. They announced me as the winner in front of the whole school, meaning I was to go on to the city finals. Twenty minutes later, they call me out of class down to the principal's office to say that the math teacher (!) had made calculation error and that someone else won. The fuckers didn't even apologize and just said "Now go back to class." /emotional scar If Indy had gone 16-0, I think the rule should be that the whole team goes to the Pro Bowl and plays against the "best of the rest". I was glad to see Moorman (from Buffalo) get the punter spot on the AFC. He can really launch them, and he sure had enough practice this year... (As a Buffalo fan, it's slim pickings for things to cheer about.)

Dude, skydivedad. I agree with almost all your snubs, but I have to take issue with that Rudi over LT point you make. Yards tells about 0.2% of the story. How many receptions does Rudi have? How many TD passes? How many touches does Rudi have? How many defenses change their entire scheme for Rudi? LT is pretty clearly the best in the AFC.

Also, how about Nate Clements ahead of Ty Law. Law was pretty terrible when I saw him. Clements made me sit my fantasy receivers if they were up against him and rightfully so. That guy was shutdown.

Does anyone bother to watch the game? I don't as most of the great players have off-season "injuries" that keep them out most of the time. Hell I wouldn't screw up a multi-million dollar career just to play it.
posted by commander cody at 02:21 AM on December 22, 2005
Nah, few people watch it. Mostly it's a time for us to argue who's the best players. And then the game comes and then it goes and we read about it in the paper. The score exhibits a distaste for defense. I always think "Oh yeah, the Pro Bowl was yesterday."

I had tickets back in the 1986. Went to the beach instead of the game. Had a great time. Rarely watch more than the 1st qtr. on TV. I am usually more hyped about spring training. The fun is going over the roster and arguing about the selections and snubs.

How can they have left the self-professed best RB in football off the roster? Shocking!

I hope Roy Williams doesn't have to cover anyone. He's not much more than a deep linebacker.

Joey Galloway was certainly snubbed. And, what's up with the popularity contest for AFC LBs? No Vilma or Andra Davis? Porter, Merriman and Wilson - No doubt, good players that make strong contributions to good teams, but these selections should be based upon more than teams' records and the flare with which they pound their chests after a play. The game itself is a joke, and the only value is 1) giving us something to chirp about and 2) giving players the recognition they deserve.

Also, how about Nate Clements ahead of Ty Law. Law was pretty terrible when I saw him. Pity pick/sop to the New York market. Or just one of those 'he was great for so many years' picks.

With Dante Culpepper, Donavan McNabb out and Brett Favre stinking up the NFC the ProBowl NFC QB's are mediocre at best. Vick is near the bottom in QB ratings and leads the QB's in rushing only. Delhomme has thrown as many picks(7) as TDs the last 7 games Hasselbeck belongs but not if he played in the AFC like Seatle used too. When Drew Breese and Plummer get snubbed in the AFC, how can Manning, Brady, Palmer not be on the list, it shows you how down the NFC QB's have fallen. Here's a nice piece on the ProBowl Snubs

I'm not a football fan, but they should get rid of Terrell Owens for good. Let him go get a career as a rocket scientist or something. If i played on that team I would have personally kicked his overly-conceited ass. It's just a game, and without it he would just be another baby daddy out there in the ghetto somewhere.
