First Mascot Hall of Fame inductees: I'm not sure if this a good thing or just silly but it is better than what is going on with the NCAA.
When are they coming out with the hotdog and peanut vendors HOF ?

Sure the mascots are cute..... but do they really need a hall of fame?

I'll be very upset if Youppi doesn't get into the HOF. Sure, some writers want to keep him out because they accused him of using performance enhancers. However, I fail to see any evidence that links mascot entertainment ability and poutine use.

I'd like to nominate myself to the newly formed Guys Who Got Drunk At The Annual Florida - Georgia Game Hall of Fame. I promise I'll work tirelessly to uphold the lofty standards of the Hall and to pave the way for further drunkenness at major college sporting events.

Can that hall of fame include chicks who got drunk?

I dont see why not, but getting in on the first ballot might be an uphill battle.

What I love is that The Chicken didn't even show. I mean, it's your Hall of Fame, dude. What the hell? And I second Youppi. At the end of last season, that fella was the Expos' last valuable asset. Where is he now? Did he go to the Vermont AAA Expos, or is he (I'm guessing it's a he) doing civic stuff for the City of Montreal?

Like being mayor?

Youppi was sold to an as yet unidentified Montreal business. Rumoured to be the Habs. I guess we'll find out when the NHL starts back up.

Wasn't the Pittsburgh Pirate parrot mascot busted for being the '80s-era squad's coke supplier?

Youppi got jobbed. Any mascot so good he survives the death of his team is a first-ballot, first-year-of-existence Hall of Famer. But as long as Rowdy is never honored, I can accept the judgment of the hall voters.

They need a veterans committee for these mascots; I don't see how else Chief Knockahoma will get in. (Or does he fall under the NCAA ban here?)

trox I wondered myself who's voting on these mascots . Old retired mascots or current ones . But then i thought , why am i even thinking about this at all ?

evil: I think the first group was elected by committee. Future votes will be by paying members of the MHofF. Youppi is already in Cooperstown. One of three mascots in the Hall. I think the reason we didn't see Youppi in the MHofF are the sexual orientation rumors. (See my Metafilter post for some other links)

There are WAY too many "hall-of-fames."
