Player Lets Fans Choose His Walk-up Music: Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has invited fans to vote on his walk-up-to-bat song this season. The four finalists are Katy Perry's "Firework," Justin Bieber's "Baby," Ke$ha's "We R Who We R" and Chris Brown's "Yeah."

Um...yeah. Did he choose the four they could pick from, or was it wide open and these four are the top vote getters? How old is Tulo? And shouldn't there be some Lady GaGa on there?

Looks like he chose the final four from a semifinal list of 30. Don't know why "Friday" and "Whip My Hair" did not make the final.

I think Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" would have been funnier.

Perry's "Peacock" would have got my vote.

Call me a crank and an old fart. I'll take the bad old days when hombres were hombres. The Pirates used to take proper care of business in this department.

When you have guys like Stargell and Dave Parker coming up to the plate, you can't have powder room or supermarket music floating out over the field.

All four of the final songs suck. Exactly why you don't let the fans vote on things for you. It's almost like they picked the worst songs from that list of 30. Go up to the plate with something that makes you look bad-ass, Troy, not this crap.

Wow, all of those would be on my list of songs that shouldn't count as music. Awful.

Great gesture by Troy but after this I'd bet my car no other players will be following suit.

I won't be surprised when he starts April with a horrible slump.

If he tried this 3 years ago, he'd be walking up to the plate to this song.

Seriously. Walk-up music, what a travesty. I see a lot of minor league games in my future.

They say young people are losing interest in baseball. Who other than young people would have, or could have voted for these jingles (I say jingles because it's not correct to refer to the chosen selections as music)?

I guess I'm really an old fart. I can remember when the PA announcer called the name, number, and position of each batter for the first time through the lineup. After that, the only things that were announced were lineup changes. No music, no loud introductions, no nothing. You kept a scorecard if you wanted to know who was coming up. Seems it's all about entertainment these days. Doesn't anyone watch baseball for the sake of the game anymore?

There's nothing wrong with a little walk-up music chosen by the player. It gives the athletes a little personality, though I wish they had better collective taste in music.

If I was playing I'd be pushing the boundaries of acceptable music all the time. It would be fun to hear "Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang or "Hey Man Nice Shot" by Filter over the PA.

People who hate Troy Tulowitzki/the Rockies (which I would imagine is a fairly small element of the world, actually)?

Everyone else on the Internet who wants to make Troy look bad for opening up his options to the masses?

From the article: "The most suggested was MC Hammer's "Too Legit To Quit" "as in Tulo-git to quit,'" more than one of your wrote.

Troy Tulowitki has some very unoriginal fans.

Personally, I would like this to be my walk-up song (solely for shock value), but I doubt it would be allowed. But the world is a truly worse place that this option from the final list was not chosen.
