Brady Becomes NFL's Top Paid Player: New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has agreed to a four-year contract extension with $48.5 million guaranteed that makes him the league's top paid player. Yahoo claims that Brady, who turned 33 last month, wants to play 10 more seasons. Reciever Miles Austin also signed a new deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

I was impressed that he was driving a fairly modest, understated ride. An Amish Mercedes.

We'll see what he comes up with next. Maybe he's headed for Ted Turner / Ford Taurus territory.

He'll be the top paid player for probably one month. The Colts will quickly step up and make Peyton Manning the top paid player before Halloween.

He passes Eli Manning to become the highest paid quarterback. Well, at least that is one thing where he can beat Eli. ;)

This starts his 10th year in the NFL. 10 more years, it could happen unless he gets a career ending injury. He could be one of those QBs like Blanda, who was still playing at 48, bring him on when you need the "old pro" on the field for a quick first down or crucial yardage. I don't see him kicking field goals though.

Can't stand the Pats, think Belechick is the devil, etc. That being said, Brady is worth every penny. Guy's been consistently excellent since the day he was thrown onto the field, and makes the mediocre players around him exponentially more valuable. For all the fans he brings to the game, the NFL itself should offset some of that money or give the Pats a little extra cap room.

OK, not really on that last part, but the guy is friggin' awesome for the league

Hear ya ..

and agree that Brady deserves what he got. He's talented and a great leader - never passes blame like some other star players today.
