Tim Hardaway doesn't feel like being in a shower with a homosexual ""GASP"". Most of the posts here are sympathetic towards the gay player and I'm surprised. There is a reason the guy was in the closet up to now. It's because he knew the reactions he would recieve, for one he knew the straight guys would feel uncomfortable showering with him and that his lifestyle choice could affect team morale. Being a successful unit on the basketball court requires trust, unity, friendship, and loyalty. Common bonds include love of women, nice cars, nice possessions etc. Maybe that list is shallow but these guys play basketball, they are not computer engineers or ACLU lawyers so what do people expect from a player's reaction? I'm with Hardaway to this extent, if I am in a foxhole for two days waiting for the enemy I want to share that moment in my life with someone who shares my values. When we talk I don't want to hear about how uncomfortable last Thanksgiving was at the "inlaws" house and how hard it is for him and his husband in this society. You have got to be kidding me!

The NFL treats their former players only slightly better than the Roman treated their gladiators. How many kids of disabled former players could they have sponsored to college on the money they paid Prince for that hideous halftime show? Phil is a true role model. I tell my kids to watch his movements. Class personified!

Bonds has made me a Giant hater. He is a narcissist and as a result has no idea what he is doing (and has done) to the game.

Who would you want right now if you were starting a new team today? S.F.s Smith or Atlanta's Vick? I'll take Smith. Drop back passer with an ability to roll out vs. a running QB with marginal passing skills. Vick's time has come and gone sad to say.

Frankly the NBA could use a new scoring front man. Gilbert has not been alleged to have raped a blonde hotel desk clerk and then covering it up by buying his lady a 6 million dollar ring (LMAO). Oh btw, that would not work on a smart wife! Dumb and dumber living in bliss? I like Arenas. He was trained by Lute and knows how to carry himself. There could be hope for the NBA yet!

Nice story. Good for your school kid. As for his grammar I understand and accept this is now the standard for the average California high school student. My kids attend high school at Clovis West in Fresno and my sophomore informs me most kids never turn in homework or class assignments. Some of the A.P. classes are so noisy the kids that want to learn can barely hear the teacher. The teachers that care are worn down by Christmas break. One P.E teacher is on the cell phone all day talking to her girlfriend even when her class is on the swimming rotation. Even so Clovis West consistantly fields national top 20 sports teams and cheer squads. There are serious minded kids and some good teachers and many graduates go on to Stanford, Cal, Harvard and other outstanding universities. Frankly the kid who wrote the piece above would probably pull a B out of 10th grade English (non-honors) anywhere in the California.

I don't watch NBA games for a couple of reasons, One is Kobe Bryant and two, it's boring until the final minute that always turns into 15 real minutes anyway. I don't care about foul calling and I understand why they keep a tight reign on these guys. If they allow it to get too sloopy they will be tempting all out brawls and then it will just end up hockey by another name. My final knock on the NBA is the players are generally pot heads. I know not all of them are high 24/7 but everyone knows the NBA and pot are an issue. I don't really care if a person drowns himself in smoke every night but I will not point my kids to games played by people that use it.

Please don't even put the classy Harrison on the same page as Owens, Johnson or Moss. Harrison is one of the only role models in Football period! I believe Harrison accepts the reality that he makes millions of $s per year to play a game of pitch and catch. Do your job, thank God for the opportunity and be humble in the process. He does that.

Flawed case from the start. Gutless Nifong would not and for some reason still will not back down for fear of political reprisal from his black constituency. He misreads the community however. They see the weakness in the case. Though he has NO case he is willing to drag these kids through the dirt for another few months and 10s of thousands in legal fees. Hopefully it's taught my teens something. When they are in college and someone hires a stripper; stay with the group, don't find yourself alone with the young "lady" and keep your phone cam running!

Tiger's relationship with his Dad is one of the all time great father-son stories. Earl raised a great kid. Note on Masters; I liked seeing Phil win it but am I the only person who feels Tiger actually lost it? If you noticed Tiger's final 9 he was only a couple of putts from making it his. Without his father's health on his mind you have to wonder if those same putts are not drained.

I would never do it but I am glad someone did. There is a minimum of outrage by the sports media complex over Bonds and his obvious cheating. He approaches Ruth's record and many who believe in baseball and its history are offended. I expect (but do not condone) more antics as the more expressive fans come out of the woodwork. America is tiring of cheating and associated cover-ups, real or imagined and in this case they are seeing Selig and the press treat this with kidd gloves = coverup.

I like the fact "The Filter" profiles Bonds stories so much. What he has done to baseball's most valued records is an historic shame. It really is the sports story of the decade. A phoney drugged up (enhanced) cheater takes down Ruth's and maybe Aaron's records. Well beyond shameful, a national tragedy.

Cowboy fans. Listen up, you guys loooved Michael Irvin and by all accounts still do. T.O. is not a criminal (as MI) and his contract is most likely so tightly wound that he will have to watch his mouth. I will watch every Cowboy game with anticipation and I cannot wait to watch the T.O. show on the field. I am a 49er fan and loved it when T.O. went to the Star years back and slammed you bubbas one. Full circle, enjoy the show, reserve your Superbowl ticket ASAP. Game on! ps- admit it, you all want to see T.O. take his first TD ball and bring it to the Star, right?

Shame the Bambino's mark will soon be passed by a bigoted cheater. Marital cheater, career cheater and a liar. He won't make it physically to Aaron's mark, the body is reclaiming itself. I am baffled by the Bay Area fans who seem to be rallying behind him. Who are these people? I used to be one of them. I don't know them anymore. Selig is weak, period. Congress needs to call Barry up to the Hill and put him under oath although it does appear he has his lie well rehearsed. Poor baseball, poor Babe!

Crotchety older man of color stuck in the old days when the black man was denied access or participation in particular sports. The guy has lost it, never really had it. Still looks like a tomato only now wrinkled due to a life time of chair sitting. Playing the race card does no one good and it will not drive young persons of color to run to the nearest ski resort anytime soon. It's not racism keeping them from trying either. It's desire and if your family enjoys the activities. Anyone notcie how gay the men's skating is now? It sure put me off the Olympic thing! Oh, except the women's curling, those Johnson sisters are easy on the eyes and can sure throw the rock!

Porter is correct, the NFL wanted Indy to win. No question. Manning is the golden boy and Dungy's family tragedy made the Indy story more compeling. Pittsburg gets no respect. The NFL is doesn't even try to hide it. Only the Raiders get less respect from the league. (I kind of like that)

I guess I am getting old or something but I cut Owens slack due to circumstances surrounding his formative years. He didn't know his dad, raised by a grandmother and watched her dwindle into an Alzheimers state. People put way too much weight on his every word. I like watching him, liked watching him from his first days as a Niner. No one is better on the field and really it is all that matters.

So to be P.C. he should have said; "The Caribbean players are hacking" "The African American players are hacking "The Caucasion players are hacking "The Central American players are hacking Insensitive in pointing out the Caribbean players only? Yes. Worth getting fired over? Hell no! As for the parady in the radio station, so what, I listen to KNBR to be entertained, not to hear softball party line info on the lousy Giants. Frankly I think the radio station was looking for an excuse to clean house. No retirement for Agnew I guess. What a shame!

He was fun to watch in his prime. He was affected and is still affected today by the passing of Cus. Mike had no real Dad and then his adopted Dad died. No one prepares for fame and wealth unless you are born into it. No wonder he went broke. He is a pitiful figure, most likely lonely, most definately suffering from some form of mental illness. I did think his response after the fight was adequate. He admitted the his fight life is over. His story is ultimately the story shared by a large number of other famous fighters. Talent, fame, wealth, decline then fade away broke and broken!

Tim Hardaway, the yin to Jon Amaechi's yang:
"While you're indulging in some fantasy about choosing who you'd like to share a foxhole with--I didn't know you got to pick--" Well you may not know military units are broken down into squad size, approximately 12 men. Like basketball but with much more at stake. "In either scenario, make sure you imagine yourself surrounded by the Creeping Gay Horde." Date who you want dude I don't really care but I don't want to hear the intimate details of your lifestyle choice and problems with your husband. And you guys are a creeping horde everything today is gay gay gay gay. Hollywood and the supporting media is creating the gay state. Enough already.
