Apparently Printers is going to start so I think it'll be B.C. and Toronto moving on.

And its very likely that the only way any of my predictions for next week will be correct is if I predict that weather won't be a factor in either game.

Hamilton and Edmonton will advance. I may offer more detailed predictions for the division finals, but for now thats all I've got.

They should use NHL '94 instead.

I'm thinking Canada will make it to the finals, lead by Lemieux, but I'm not sure who they'll face. Maybe Finland, but of course anything is possible. I can't wait until tomorrow when I can actually catch a game or two. It should be great watching Canada play the U.S. in their 1920 throwback jerseys.

According to this article Orlando and Jacksonville were part of the WHA for 9 days in June. Also, Hamilton and Toronto still don't have lease agreements with their arenas. The WHA website lists Birmingham, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Montreal, Phoenix, Arizona and Toledo as prospective future franchises.

I almost forgot about the players chosen as franchise draft exemptions.

I prefer salary arbitration over things such as murder-for-hire plots and Don Cherry, but thats just me.

Wow, I've never seen a CFL post on here before (although I've never really browsed through the archives). Unfortunately, I keep getting a 404 error when submitting my picks so I won't be able to oppose Shultz's pick of Edmonton over Hamilton.

I've been reading rumours about Recchi going to Pittsburgh for weeks but I didn't think it would actually happen. He'll be making less than he did last year after leading the Flyers in scoring? Lemieux has worked his magic yet again.

After getting rid of Jagr, Lang, etc. last season I would probably pay the $2 million to bring Ovechkin over to help sell tickets. He would probably do a better job at that than Jeff Halpern, assuming there are any games to sell tickets for...

Weekes would have been a better choice, actually. A full decade younger, some playoff success already, and something to prove. I think after what happened last season Hasek definately has something to prove as well. That's why I think this is a great move for Ottawa, as long as Hasek is healthy for the playoffs.

Here's a full list of available free agents, the free agency group they belong too, and explanations of the different groups. It should be pretty interesting to see what happens over the next couple of days....or months. I'm sure there will be a couple of big signings and then other teams will feel they have to compete by signing a big name or two as well, despite the CBA situation. I've heard that even my lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are looking at a couple of players, like Recchi. Alot of the lesser names on that list are probably going to be free agents for quite a while.

Do you think they're serious enough about Hasek that they would actually sign him? There were reports yesterday (sorry, no link) that they have agreed to terms with Hasek, they just have to wait until July 1st to sign him. I'm assuming that this trade confirms that.

Or anyone want to post the game on the Internet? I've seen xvid rips of the games on a torrent site, though I'm not sure if posting a link to such a site on here would be ok or not. Anyway, right now the site only has the games up to day 6 of the tournament, so this game isn't available...yet

And for a pointless comparison, the 2003 CFL Grey Cup Championship Rings are valued at $10,000 with an average weight of 58 grams, but.... For the players who were scheduled to play in the game at SkyDome in Toronto on Aug. 14 that was cancelled by a blackout, a black diamond is set into the Grey Cup on the side of the ring.

Just call it the Bobby Orr trophy Or they could combine the names like they did with the MBNA Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award. Award names don't get much better than that

Flames set a franchise record with an average attendance of 17,877 which included 30 sell-outs (a record that suprises me somewhat given that the arena capacity was about 20,500 or so back in the early 90s when they were good). I believe the Saddledome has some sections with obstructed view seats which they made unavailable for years, although they did open those sections for this years playoffs.

Tampa hasn't been able to win back to back games since eliminating Montreal and then beating Philadelphia in game 1 of that series. Anyway, I think Iginla is going to be the difference tonight.

I watched the game on CBC, still saw the replay a number of times though. With it seeming like a goal from only 1 camera angle, it actually would have been much more controversial if they did call it a goal.

The way it happened, with no stoppage of play for video review, inconclusive evidence, and no real dispute from anybody I don't think this incident will be remembered much at all. It was a totally different situation than a goal like Brett Hull's in '99.

I'm sure Nieminen's run at Curtis Joseph earlier in the playoffs didn't help his chances of avoiding a suspension.

Upon further review it turns out the Lightning are actually 8-0 in the playoffs when Richards scores a goal (and 30-0-2 in the regular season). He has 7 game winning goals in the playoffs, which is a single-season playoff record. I wonder if the Conn Smythe trophy will be enough to ignite some PEI rioting.

Hopefully this curse can overcome the more recent trend of Tampa Bay being undefeated this year when Brad Richards scores a goal (7 games in the playoffs, 20+ more in the regular season). Yeah...I think I would probably take Rocket Richard over Brad Richards....

Onto the Grey Cup!
Snow? Might be rain. Snow would be nice though. I think Toronto will lose a close game because of a lack of production on offense. BC will win.
