WHA Draft: The WHA held its free agent draft yesterday and its amateur draft today. Simon Gagne was the top free agent pick while 17 year old Sidney Crosby was the first amateur taken. I wonder how many of the players who were selected in either draft would actually play in the WHA, assuming any WHA games are played at all.

Home field advantage?: Detroit Tigers manager Alan Trammell suggests that the Minnesota Twins tampered with the ventilation system of the Metrodome; blowing air through outfield vents in the 9th inning of a game they led 6-5 to prevent the possibility of a Detroit home run.

Giants sign Kurt Warner.: It's a two-year deal (voidable after the first year) which could be worth more than $8 million if Warner achieves all of his incentives. How much playing time do you think Warner will get and how do you think things will turn out for him, Eli Manning and the rest of the Giants?

Snow? Might be rain. Snow would be nice though. I think Toronto will lose a close game because of a lack of production on offense. BC will win.

Apparently Printers is going to start so I think it'll be B.C. and Toronto moving on.

And its very likely that the only way any of my predictions for next week will be correct is if I predict that weather won't be a factor in either game.

Hamilton and Edmonton will advance. I may offer more detailed predictions for the division finals, but for now thats all I've got.

They should use NHL '94 instead.

I'm thinking Canada will make it to the finals, lead by Lemieux, but I'm not sure who they'll face. Maybe Finland, but of course anything is possible. I can't wait until tomorrow when I can actually catch a game or two. It should be great watching Canada play the U.S. in their 1920 throwback jerseys.

According to this article Orlando and Jacksonville were part of the WHA for 9 days in June. Also, Hamilton and Toronto still don't have lease agreements with their arenas. The WHA website lists Birmingham, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Montreal, Phoenix, Arizona and Toledo as prospective future franchises.

I almost forgot about the players chosen as franchise draft exemptions.

I prefer salary arbitration over things such as murder-for-hire plots and Don Cherry, but thats just me.

Wow, I've never seen a CFL post on here before (although I've never really browsed through the archives). Unfortunately, I keep getting a 404 error when submitting my picks so I won't be able to oppose Shultz's pick of Edmonton over Hamilton.

I've been reading rumours about Recchi going to Pittsburgh for weeks but I didn't think it would actually happen. He'll be making less than he did last year after leading the Flyers in scoring? Lemieux has worked his magic yet again.

After getting rid of Jagr, Lang, etc. last season I would probably pay the $2 million to bring Ovechkin over to help sell tickets. He would probably do a better job at that than Jeff Halpern, assuming there are any games to sell tickets for...

BANHAMMER TIME!
I'd like to be banned as well. Actually, I would just like my account to be deleted if possible. I tried emailing admin@sportsfilter.com about it but the email was returned. Thanks,
