Lost my mom and dad to the scourge within a year of each other. I still have lots of prayers left over for those battling.

My prayers too. She has always seemed to be a class act who knows her stuff. So much that that she went from sports to news because ABC recognized her talent. I have six sisters and a history of cancer in my family. Statisically speaking they have dodged the bullet so far, but it's always lurking there in the background.

I had no idea she had a major college basketball career at one point. I always knew her from various ABC news programs. My thoughts and prayers.

Lost my mother when I was 15 to this horrible monster of a disease. I wish Robin Roberts and Mrs_The_Black_Hand all the best.

Condolences to all of you affected by this disease. Prayers to Robin to gather strength and hope. I saw this quote recently when looking for a gift for a friend who had a tumor removed from his brain. Some of you may have seen it..... "What Cancer Cannot Take From You If cannot take away your Faith, shatter your Hope, or lessen your Love. It cannot destroy true Friendship, invade the Soul, or take away Eternal Life. It cannot conquer your Spirit."

Just to clarify, my wife is fine. She went through two surgeries, a full course of chemotherapy, and radiation treatments, but she's fine now and has had a clean bill of health ever since. I certainly appreciate your kind wishes, and so does she; I just didn't want to give anybody the wrong impression.

Cancer is a devastating disease. My dad died of liver cancer. My mom had throat cancer and I've had lung cancer. Good luck Ms. Roberts

A lot of people may not find this particularly sports-related, but since she still works for ESPN, I thought it relevant enough to post. I'll leave it with the mods. Ever since my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in April of 2005, I can find nothing in my heart but sincere respect and empathy for anyone faced with this devastating news. I've always thought of Robin Roberts as a class act on and off the air, and she'll be in my prayers through this ordeal.
