This is the first Stanley Cup won in Canada since 1993.

Congrats to the Lightning who have been knocking on the door for so long. I'm glad they honored Stamkos but it had to have been a little bittersweet for him given how little he got to play in the Finals. I'm sad to see Dobby's Cinderella story end, and I have no idea what the future will hold for him, but it was a hell of a fun run.

Congratulations to the Bay Lightning and to all their fans. I seem to recall that the team that won the Cup after them in the aughts was the Hurricanes. Here's to history rhyming (but without the lock out this time, please?)

This is the 2nd time Stamkos has missed the opportunity to play in a championship victory due to injury. At least he got to lace 'em up for a few minutes and score a goal.

If you mean that this is the last time the final game of the series was played in Canada, you are incorrect. Boston clinched the 2011 Cup final in game 7, played in Vancouver. To be sure, 1993 is the last time a Canadian team won the Cup in its home arena.

Poor rcade. He served up a nice burn on Canada, but Howard swooped in to set the record straight. Delete your account, rcade

Ha! In my defense, the factoid isn't as interesting now.

I have to stop speaking ill of Stephen Gostkowski. He was an absolute beast yesterday. An unreal performance. Maybe the best day he's ever had as a pro.
I wonder what got into him. He couldn't find the uprights with a metal detector a week or two ago.
