..., I was actually cheering for the Pats. Had I known what was in store, I would have been all in on the Greatest Show on Turf.

...September 11 had changed the program I was working on from "Let's see if we can make this work" to "the Army wants this thing working at all costs, and they want it yesterday". Like the direction of the Patriots, my own direction changed completely.

... I had no idea that New England sports had made a nefarious deal with unseen powers to bring championships across all the sports. Soon we will learn the true terms of that arrangement.

...I was watching it at a friend's place while playing poker while my girlfriend was working a night shift at the hospital. Since then:
- got married (celebrated my 16th anniversary)
- bought a new house (paid off the mortgage on it)
- had a child (celebrated her 5th birthday)
- lost most of my hair

I was just starting a three year, er, involuntary sabbatical due to being part of the first major layoff at Sun Micro (and the dot com bust) and had just started dating a lovely woman. But in four weeks I will hit my sixth anniversary with one of the hottest still private startups and in four months we'll celebrate our 16th anniversary.
As for this SB matchup, honestly I could care less who wins, but given that the wife would laser drill Brady with her eyes if she could I think this house will be rooting for the Rams.

This, and missing both the game and a trip to a conference in Boston because I was too busy at work. The individual who went in my place won one of the first big screen Plasma TVs that was used for presentation at the conference, worth about $14K at the time.

Boy, I was in year 2 of working at a web development shop, worked there another 5 years, got married not long before leaving, worked for myself for 10 years, had a kid near the end of that and now it's 5 years later. I've been working for a company in the Bay Area the last 2+ years and it was all I could do not to post in the company Slack that I would quit my job the first time the Patriots aren't in the Superbowl.
