Good to see Australia holding its own against Brasil. If AUS had just a tiny bit more team speed...

When two teams have a similar primary kit (yellow shirts), who determines which team wears their alternates? Is it done by world ranking or tournament seeding?

When two teams have a similar primary kit (yellow shirts), who determines which team wears their alternates?

From the official regulations of the 2015 WWC.

3. In principle, each team shall wear its official team kit as declared on the official team colour form. If the two teams' colours and the match officials' colour might cause confusion, in principle, team A in the official match schedule will be entitled to wear its official team kit and team B will use its reserve team kit or, if necessary, a combination of the official and the reserve team kits. FIFA will endeavour to ensure that each team wears its official team kit at least once during the final competition.

6. FIFA will inform the teams of the colours that they shall wear for each
match.

The Women's World Cup confidence pool is caught up. Putting Australia down at 21 of 24 was not my best moment.

Nice hops, rook.

I love how after the pitcher (Keuchel) gets the ball back, he stops to watch the replay on the jumbotron. I'd want to see that again, too.

I had the Matildas at 6 points.

But I only did this in order not to hex them.

Post hoc rationalisation? Of course. That's how I live.

Turns out Mexico and Spain were bad choices.

Sweden and Brazil crashing out are going to be tough for me to overcome.

Is it just my not-very-well-informed perception that there is a loooot of excellent young talent in baseball right now? Or is there really a loooot of excellent young talent in baseball right now?

I was so used to the best players in the game being among the older players in the game (ARod, Bonds, Clemens, Johnson, etc), that the fact that there are so many great younger players is a breath of fresh air.

I was going to try and list them all, but there are too many.

It really is like a new golden era for position players. We just finished a golden era for pitchers (Johnson, Clemens, Martinez, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Mussina, etc), so it's about time the hitters/fielders step up.
