MLB: Can money buy baseball glory?

This week in the Oh Are You Fucking Kidding Me statistics race: "[Jose] Fernandez became the first starter younger than 21 to throw at least seven scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and one hit or fewer allowed since Kerry Wood did it in May 1998."

Limitations:
- pitching role (starter) - age (under 21) - inning count (>= 7 IP) - run count (= 0 R) - strikeout count (9K) - hit count (<= 1 H) - date (last 15 years)
Eight different restrictions!
It's happened 5 different times (to four pitchers) since 1916:
Rk Player Age Date IP H R SO
1 Jose Fernandez 20.277 2013-05-04 7.0 1 0 9
2 Kerry Wood 20.324 1998-05-06 9.0 1 0 20
3 Dwight Gooden 19.296 1984-09-07 9.0 1 0 11
4 Bob Feller 20.236 1939-06-27 9.0 1 0 13
5 Bob Feller 20.203 1939-05-25 9.0 1 0 10

If I might, YYM, I would offer the following suggestions to the pictured fan:
1. Understand exactly what the Boston Strong theme refers to, and respect same.
2. Take a good, long look at the scoreboard following game 3.

I heard about that sign. That guy got slammed around pretty good online, including by Leafs fans who want nothing to do with a thing like that.

I knew it was going to be a thing when my wife saw it on a social network in the middle of the game. I just can't see getting fired up about it. Trash talk is trash talk and whenever there's something notable people start talking about lines you can't cross. For better or worse, the whole point of trash talk is crossing lines.
And I like anything that leads to ill feeling during a hockey series. That leads to hate. And hate leads to the Dark Side. Which will lead to Jack Edwards producing some crazy metaphors.

Folks, easy on him.
He's a Leafs fan and like all Leaf fans has endured decades of failure and despair.
Realize the poor guy is damaged goods.

Yeah, it's not so much offensive as pathetic. Dude might as well be holding a sign with an arrow pointing down that just says "jackass."

It's a jackass move, but I still think it's funny.

I love the faces of the guys around him, especially the bald guy smirking at the camera. It's like he knows he's about to become part of an unwelcome meme, and figures he might as well make the most of his 15 minutes.

I suppose this guy is not as bad as the clown who commented on cbssports.com (I think) to the effect that Boston teams have been milking the tragedy for all it's worth since it happened. Oh well, there are always the several who just don't get it.

The bottom of this Red Sox minor league round-up includes a list of all players to submit an MLB season of at least 100 plate appearances wherein their OBP was at least 2x their batting average.
