Colt McCoy May Be Cut in Cleveland: Cleveland Browns third round pick Colt McCoy is "on the bubble" and may be a training camp cut, the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting. McCoy, slowed by a sprained thumb, is third on the depth chart behind Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace.
This could make for a fun ESPN reality show: notable college stars who wash out in the pros. Each season a new crew of wash outs share a beach house and argue about their respective NCAA stats. Then they get drunk in hot tubs and fantasize about a pro career. Hannah Storm inexplicably shows up and tries to interview them, only to be chased down the street. A lot of middle-aged guys would relate to that.

I think he signed a 4 yr, $5M contract. I wonder how much of that is guaranteed?

The contract guarantees McCoy $1.07M.

6 weeks of training camp for $1.07 million. I don't know too many people who wouldn't take that deal. Obviously not the kind of money he could earn in a career of pro ball, but still would represent many years of good salary for us regular working stiffs.

I've got a grand idea: link to what is probably the source Plain Dealer article on this subject. So yeah, here it is. I get the drift that everyone in the Browns' organization has been viewing him as nothing more than a project since draft day.

Well now you've messed up this whole post since they've changed their minds on it: "Barring an unforeseen circumstance, rookie quarterback Colt McCoy will make the Browns' final roster, a league source said."

Come on, just the name should get him on a team.

That seems to have worked for Seneca Wallace.
Colt seems out of place in Cleveland. So does Delhomme. They belong to a different latitude. The Browns ought to look for a guy with a name like Cuyahoga Carey.
(He's probably playing in a regional nine ball tournament this weekend).

I would suspect that, if he is cut and not picked up, he would end up on someone's practice squad.
