SportsFilter: The Wednesday Huddle:
A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.
Time to go home with abdominal troubles.

A good buddy of mine used to swing by my place on occasions like these. He never bothered to get his own supply of niacin (vitamin B3). He'd pop a handful on his way to work. A short while later ... like magic ... niacin flush! Beauty of it was that his boss didn't know that it was actually a healthy thing. My buddy got sent home for a rather blotchy rash that his boss thought was just plain scary.

Obviously I'll avoid SportsFilter
Lets all talk about grum while he's not here. I heard that he's behind an Opus Dei inspired plot to restore the throne in Canada and name Brian Adams grand Poobah.

John Isner and Nicolas Mahut are currently in the 60th game of the fifth set of their 2nd round match at Wimbledon.
4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 29-30 at the moment.

32-32 now and showing very few signs of finishing any time soon. I can't find an ace count, but I'm fairly sure I saw one earlier that said Isner had had 68 of them already in the match. I seem to recall 51 being the (previous) record for an individual match at Wimbledon.

I heard that too, and that he was down to referee the USA's next game at the World Cup.

33-33...
Aces are 64-74 in favour of Isner.
"Wimbledon Fortnight" isn't supposed to describe one match.

46-45 now.
When it was first mentioned in this thread I thought this was some sort of joke we were playing on grum. It turns out it's real.

TV analyst Pam Shriver got into an argument with James Blake while he was playing his match.

Commentators have been fired for less, and Shriver should be.

Shhh.
I made it through the day without finding out the scores of the England and USA matches. I had to run from gathering at the end of the day because they insisted on turning on the television. That was a good enough reason to head home early to watch the matches.

As a Canadian, what are the chances I'll be able to do the entire day without finding out the results of the USA/Algeria and England/Slovenia matches, so I can watch them on my PVR when I get home?
Obviously I'll avoid SportsFilter, and CNN, and any websites that might even have a hint of showing the score.
I'll also not listen to the radio, or look at any TVs in store windows or the offices near by.
I've also posted a sign in my cubicle that requests no one talk about the games within earshot.
My route home will be the most winding and remote possible, just to avoid any English supporters that might be hanging out in the local pubs.
Even with all this, I think there is a 75% chance of me finding out the score accidentally.
Sigh.
