SportsFilter: The Tuesday Huddle:
A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.
Bad timing.
NBA and NHL championship games on the same nights (with long breaks).
MLB just waiting for Strasburg (plus no perfect games).
CFL is a month away from regular season.
NFL has nothing to talk about.
The rest of the world is just waiting for the World Cup to start.

Plus, I guess, no one really cares about the French Open.

Cormac Eklof, a former pitcher for the Irish National Baseball team, Has provided version 5.0 of his World Cup Cheat Sheet for Americans, in which he compares each World Cup team to an American counterpart in another sport. Eklof writes on the Boston Irish blog site, and I was steered to this via Eric Wilbur of the Boston Globe. There are some amusing and interesting comparisons

version 5.0 of his World Cup Cheat Sheet for Americans ... "South Africa could go the entire World Cup without scoring a goal. With Benni McCarthy listed as your star man', It is not completely out of the question"
Especially as McCarthy isn't going to the World Cup. Although rumour has it he already scored.

From the Upward Mobility Department:
Daunte Culpepper has just signed with the Sacramento UFL franchise.
Going from being a Lion to a Mountain Lion.

I really hope I'm not the only person that, upon skimming through that article, read item number 1 wrongly the first time through and found himself alternately squicked and a little turned on.

Slow sports week?
In addition to the things grum listed, I sense that rcade must be taking a vacation. He really has borne the brunt of posting most of the links the last few months.
