SportsFilter: The Thursday Huddle:
A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.
I know Pittsburgh was pushing to have it played in the new Consel Energy Arena that will be opening in a few months. Hopefully 2012.

Letterman offers Brad Stevens his salary to coach Ball State There was a longer version where he did offer his salary, but this is pretty good anyway. Stevens has a great future where ever he goes.

Tiger Woods "disappointed all of us, and more importantly, our kids and our grandkids," said Augusta chairman Billy Payne. "His future will never again be measured only by his performance against par, but measured by the sincerity of his effort to change. I hope he now realizes that every kid he passes on the course wants his swing, but would settle for his smile."
That's a very lyrical way of telling Tiger to be less of a dick.

Watson just shot 67 and leads the tournament.

I don't know how that list didn't include an at-bat from this player.

I thought this was all unnecessary. Tiger is a philandering dog. That sucks, but all the superiority is making me a little sick. If we sifted through Payne's life like Tiger's life has been sifted through, would he come out smelling like roses? Not to mention that the Masters and Tiger show women about the same amount of respect for women. None.

Tiger gets one booty call at the Masters.
Through the 6th hole he was at -1...Watson leading the way! It'd be cool to see old Tom win it.

George Vecsey rips Payne a new one for the remarks about Woods.

So, I was trying to watch the Masters this afternoon, and I'm wondering who the rest of those yahoos are out there while Tiger is trying to golf. ESPN is doing a pretty good job of keeping them out of the frame, but every now and then you have to watch one of them play instead of watching Tiger chat with his caddy.

I think the Tiger headcover that Woods uses for his driver got more on air time than Couples did.
I would love to see Couples and Watson hang around the lead throughout this event.

Great day for the Hurricanes to put the (almost) cap on a shitty season. Well, to be fair, the Hurricanes were the second best team in the East since January 1st, but it was an incredibly and shitty first three months for a long season. Crazy. And since they are out of the playoffs, I now give my congratulations to the New Jersey Devils on their upcoming Stanley Cup championship.

Yay! Hooray! The NHL All Star game will finally be played in Raleigh! Whoo!
It would be very cool if I could somehow convince the powers that be to book North Carolina's very own Valient Thorr to be the game's main entertainment.
