Raiders Coach Accused of Breaking Assistant Coach's Jaw: Police are investigating the allegation that Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable attacked assistant coach Randy Hanson during a meeting Aug. 5 and broke his jaw. Hanson did not reveal the identity of the person who struck him when he received medical treatment, but after the story broke on NationalFootballPost.Com Cable was identified as the alleged attacker.
I can't wait for the Commish to hand down the punishment for this. How many games? over/under? I say 6. It seems he did it by all accounts and said "I'm going to kill you." To me that's worse than shoting yourself in the leg.

Tom Cable is just Al Davis' latest dummy. You can't see Al's lips move when Cable talks, but what is said is pure Al. At first it was "nothing happened", then it was "this is just an internal matter".
It transformed from an internal matter to a police matter when Hanson was told he was no longer welcome on the sideline at practices.
According to the source, Cable allegedly came at Hanson from behind. Cable knocked Hanson out of his chair and up against the wall and into a cabinet. Cable and Hanson fell to the floor, where Hanson was choked, the source said, and Cable was pulled off Hanson by the other men before Cable went after Hanson again.
"Cable said, 'I am going to kill you, I am going to kill you,' as he was choking him," according to the source, who also said furniture in the room was damaged.
My money is on at lease 6 games, assuming Davis doesn't fire him mid-season.

If the allegations are true, it is one more example of how far our society has fallen! As a kid, I grew up being taught that sports were a tool for teaching teamwork and sportsmanship. Now, it has become big business and the fan be damned! This is just the latest in the comedy that has become the Oakland Raiders, one of the most storied franchises in NFL history, reduced to a laughing stock by an insane owner! Is a suspension enough? Why is criminal behavior accepted in professional sports?

Randy Hanson is a hold over from the last coaching regime. From what's being said, Hanson is Al Davis' personal stool pigeon which is why Coach Cable went after Hanson. Not excusing what Cable did (I believe he should be suspended just like players would) but Al Davis is losing his team from every which way possible.

I have read that Hanson is Davis' guy but I thought the reason that Cable was hired was because he was Davis' guy as well.
I also assume many owners have pigeons on staff in one way, shape, or form and you don't hear about them having their jaws broken. I doubt this will go to court but if it does, I would love to hear Cable's justification for it.

I'll take the under and say it will be four games.

This distraction should coincide with another pathetic season by the once-proud Raiders franchise. Ownership, the front office, and all the coaches need to be different before any of this changes. For every step they try to take forward, they go about 10 back.
