Maybe there should be a style quiz as part of the sign up process. For example: Which of these is correct? A. Your team is the suxxorz!!! B. ROFLMAO!!! LOL!! C. Lok, u r just plain rong!! Nuff Ced! D. Win-Loss is a worthless stat for evaulating individual pitchers because there are too many factors that influence the stat that are out of the pitcher's control.

"IMHO" is a shorthand for something that qualifies the statement and serves a valid purpose in writing to communicate tone, e.g., "Brett Favre is the best quarterback ever." vs. "IMHO, Brett Favre is the best quarterback ever." "LOL" started off in a similar vein, to indicate the responder found something funny, but now it's used like a verbal tic and most often to indicate someone thinks their own words are uproariously funny.

I'd add to that that IMHO is an acronym/abbreviation for a phrase that, if spelled out, does not automatically render the sentence nonsense, while "LOL" or "ROFL" do. Try it: "In my humble opinion, Tony Romo will make Tom Brady look like the waterboy next season." "Laughing out loud don't you guys get it?" "You think Favre should be sportsman of the year? Rolling on the floor laughing!" The "humble" is overdone, though, so I try to lose the H when I remember to.

no dont nuke the wvu thread. then i would have one less place to spout my ridiculous nonsense and go on and on for proper noun after proper noun and sentence after sentence and paragraph after paragraph without ever once using my shift key in order to actually capitalize a letter. i guess the plus side of my absolute fear of the shift key is that i will never be guilty of using way too many exclamation marks. youll never find a one in any of my posts because once again that would require the shift key. maybe i should go to the store and buy a new keyboard. maybe my shift keys are broken. maybe i think im doing the opposite of shouting, whispering by never capitalizing but im not really sure why i wont or cant use the shift key.

It's in there: Keep the spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes to a minimum. Over use of caps, exclamation points, italics, bold, and aol-speak are discouraged. Take pride in what you are writing. Sorry, I'll look out for it. I haven't been here as much during the holidays. Things should be getting back to normal.
