I had to come to work toady so I'm depending on you Spofites for commentary today. Doc, can you update the "most recent games thread" link for me again?

The finals are on January 4th? Who won? </snark> Technically, pool play still matters for us. :) Those who picked the USA high, for instance, will be at a disadvantage from this point on.

njsk8r but it's SpoFi play Hokey to watch Olympic Hockey Day!

Anyone watching the curling? The Canadian women are down by three in the last end against the Swiss. Wish I could get shot-by-shot commentary somewhere.

Anybody got a guess on Total Goals scored today? 16 Here's SUI vs. SWE Puck is dropped......

Aww crap, that looks bad, Doc. I'll need to write at least one column about womens curling before this is over, or else, well, I'll feed bad. What's with the crappy hockey schedule? Quasi-simultaneous games? Give us a break, IOC!

The Canadian women are down by three in the last end Apparently they play ten ends nowadays. Who knew? Grrr... I'll have trouble adding YOUR comment, SpoFi!

but it's SpoFi play Hokey to watch Olympic Hockey Day! I know, but I haven't learned enough Autolisp to make the drawings draw themselves. I've been working extra hours but I'm still 2 weeks behind. I gotta please the customers if I want to keep my job. I'll say 21 goals today.

DrJE, the official Torino web site says down by 2 in the 10th, but SUI with the hammer. Doesn't look good.

1-0 SWE Sedin from the near point... early 1st

Doesn't look good at all. A steal of 2 is not a small feat. Woah, the Swedes are not wasting time. Who's in net for Switzerland?

SWE PP.......

Well, they stole three in the third end, so it's only fair. Who's in net for Switzerland? Gerber, baby.

they stole three in the third end Nope, that wasn't a steal. Anyway, Canada loses 7-5. OK, no more curling talk. We're like those annoying guests at the Super Bowl party who want to switch the channel to see the score in the hockey game.

No, I like the curling updates keep'em coming

A steal of three is the best end of your curling life, or you're playing someone who can't shoot straight. I've never played curling, mind you, just watched the pros. Amateur: what's the score of the hockey game? ;-)

Striet SUI Captain... at 8:27

Nope, that wasn't a steal. I missed the lack of scoring in the first end. I gotta start finishing these cups of coffee. Ah well... looks like that's that. Bronze medal, here we come!

The Swedish coach is so fired if they lose to Switzerland after his talk of throwing the last preliminary game. Mark Streit! Our 7th, useless D-man who's apparently playing like he's Bobby Orr now.

SpoFi play Hokey to watch Olympic Hockey Day I'm "working from home" today so I can watch the quarters (and because I have a new sofa being delivered). 1-1 after a SUI goal. I hope they continue to keep things interesting.

posted by qbert72 at 10:00 AM on February 22, 2006
Oh yeah, I really waiting for a sofa. Best day of the year so far, easily. Not because of the sofa mind you, but because I get to sit at home, work sparingly, and watch hockey. I'm easy to please.

I'm guessing the "I'll work from home today" line works better in the US than in Canada during a hockey tournament. Me, I'm self-employed, so everything is gravy. Although I am restricting my TV time to lunch time and the Canada game for today. So I'm counting on you guys for updates.

BOB COLE: And a penalty's coming to the Swiss! Streit touches the puck—let's see what the call is. It looks like the bear's going to the box for goaltender interference. HARRY NEALE: Let's have a look at the replay to see if we can spot the infraction. Oh yes. Yes, the bear swallows Henrik Lundqvist whole. Good call by Dan Marouelli. BOB COLE: And for that, the bear'll serve two or less!
posted by DrJohnEvans at 10:13 AM on February 22, 2006
Good thing he swallowed him whole. It could of been an extra 2 for drawing blood.

don't even joke about that drjohn. it would be just our luck that our goalie would get eaten by a bear at the olympics.

Jarkko Ruutu is making a good impression on me in this tournament. He's consistently delivering solid, semi-dirty hits. Just the kind of hits you need in the playoffs. This guy could be the new Tikkanen. Finland has two goals against in the whole tournament so far, which is insane.

NoMich leads the way with lots of points on the line today. Several players are in position, who can win it all? Pool Play doesn't matter now. Win or go home. 1st Up SWE vs. SUI
