Well, well. Latecomers. Close the door quietly and prepare for the hazing to begin. unless of course you really ARE mr. stewart in which case I meant to say, "Sir may _I_ have another?"

so who wants to buy my super cool LOW user number now huh? Get in on the 3-digit automatic correctness and coolness now while you can! /mefi spoof.

Wow. Mr. Fleming has a lot of pressure on him now. Carrying around the #1000 means a lot. I hope he can live up to it. It's nice to see some more Canadians added to the group.

I should probably say something more than "I can't believe it's not butter", shouldn't I? Hello everyone.

Oh, and it's not THE Jon Stewart, it's a co-worker I suckered into signing up before me : )

I say we make him take the pledge. And if it's not THE Jon Stewart, then no coffee for you!

The first rule about the SpoFi pledge: don't talk about the SpoFi pledge.

240 nothing, jerseygirl! You can have #67 for a mere 67,000 dollars.

1000 is nothing, but I'll shed a tear for number 1049 -- because I know what #1049 will think. He/she's going to think: "Damnit, I should have registered earlier! I'd have had an uber cool three digit user number, but now I'm stuck with all the four-digiters!" I know that feeling all too well. *sheds tear*

I, for one, welcome our new four digit overlords. Come on, you know someone had to say it.

Welcome aboard, dfleming! You do realize you've wasted your 15 minutes on this, don't you? I can think of worse ways, but still.

an uber cool three digit user number I'm finally old-school. What a feeling.
posted by rocketman at 08:26 AM on January 13, 2004
he's crafty. i like him already. JG, do you mean "crafty" in the Beastie Boys stole-my-old-skateboard sense, or do you think Fleming does needlepoint? And even if it WAS the real Jon Stewart, I wouldn't be impressed. Lewis Black, though ... I'd be kissing some serious ass. And welcome to both of you. Here's your official SpoFi welcoming gift.

I'm not sure if dfleming and mr.stewart appreciate being treated as some number. Is that all they are to you people? Numbers? I'm appalled.

Pretty damn cool. As one of the Seven, I am quite proud of this milestone. To infinity, and beyond!
posted by msacheson at 09:11 AM on January 13, 2004
Oh, and garfield: what kind of number is 238, anyway? Really? You're a big man to show your face around here with that number.
posted by msacheson at 09:12 AM on January 13, 2004
I don't want to appear tetchy, but wtf is "the real Jon Stewart" anyway?
posted by squealy at 09:29 AM on January 13, 2004
an uber cool three digit user number Yes! I just made it! And don't think I won't be lording my 3-digitness over all the new 4-digit punks, either. Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

John Stewart, host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show". It's probably the best way to get your daily news.

It also looks like Johnny Unitas signed up too ... apparently from the big football field in the sky. I wonder what he thinks of Peyton.

Now all we need is for Johnny Utah to sign up and start a thread about surfing, skydiving, or bank robbery.

*begins pining for SpoFi glory days* We can officially do that now right? It was soooooo much better before all these 1kers started showing up and ruining the place.

I have a low user-number, therefore I am always right. Cower in my mere presence! Be grateful I showed up to your lame FPP post! Do not question my [implied] authority! /mefi

I'm a newbie! I can double-post, be rude, post to espn.com's homepage and generally do what I want because I don't know any better! ROFL LOL Smock Smock Smock! JG, do you mean "crafty" in the Beastie Boys stole-my-old-skateboard sense, or do you think Fleming does needlepoint? A little bit of column A, a little of column B; if, of course, by needlepoint, you mean a harrowing, life-sucking smack habit. I swear, I'm going to contribute for real soon.

Chides newbie for smock-smock-smocking and rofling. i meant in the beastie boys sense, of course, and the smack habit too.

Pretty damn cool. As one of the Seven, I am quite proud of this milestone. To infinity, and beyond! You mean one of the EIGHT. Grrrrr...
posted by justgary at 09:51 PM on January 13, 2004
You know, justgary, you should read your own Pantheonic history. I'm sure msacheson was referring to the seven founders, the Pantheon. Matt Haughey doesn't really count as an eighth, because he kind of existed before you all, and made it possible for you guys to create the SpoFi. Which makes him a SpoFi Titan (a Spo-Titan? hahahaha). [brought to you by the SpoFi History Appreciation Association]

You know, justgary, you should read your own Pantheonic history. But its more fun to say "grrrrrr". Besides, history is the stuff of legends and fables. Don't believe a word of it ;)

I've got a pretty low number, but I'm so pissed off I didn't find out about this site in time to get a 2-digit number!
posted by salmacis at 07:54 AM on January 14, 2004
It's a damn shame that the initials of the seven founding members don't form some kind of catchy acronym, like "SHAZAM!"
