The next round of college football realignments may be under way

As an A&M fan, this makes no sense to me. FSU will be joining a conference where the revenue is not shared equally, where UT pushes all the dwarf schools around, and where a conference network is an impossibility due to the fact that UT has an exclusive deal with ESPN. There's just no cultural fit, either. I guess this is just about money? Otherwise, I don't see the advantages.

NFL Logos of the Non-Existent Past

Looks like he just changed the Texans logo. It did have the Oiler logo involved in it yesterday. Wonder if Bud Adams sent him a nasty-gram.

Big 12 Picking Up The Pieces

> Could it be that Texas and Oklahoma are tired of carrying teams that don't make any money?

Then why be in a conference in the first place? Also, that statement implies that Texas and OU actually have other options, which they don't. The PAC-12 doesn't want OU without Texas, and they don't want Texas with their LHN. None of the other conferences want them either.

I would think that the fact that the Big XII is being salvaged would make it obvious that those teams don't have other (decent) options.

Big 12 Picking Up The Pieces

Glad my Aggies had enough of it. What a POS conference this is. Check out the horns home schedule next year now that they've said they refuse to play us:

Wyoming New Mexico Iowa State Baylor Missouri

There's gonna be some barn-burners there.

NCAA Conference Death Watch - Big East gains on Big 12

>pholcomb, rumor has it that the P12 has told Texas that it has to fold the LHN into its regional-network deal, and Texas has seen that Oklahoma is willing to leave the Big 12 entirely over it.

How does that work exactly? I believe all of the networks in the PAC-12 are jointly owned by the conference, and now the PAC-12 will have a network that's owned by texas/ESPN? I'm really curious as to how they'll make that work.

NCAA Conference Death Watch - Big East gains on Big 12

Good luck with texas Pac-12. They're the fat rich kid who doesn't like to share. I'm incredibly surprised that OU, who was willing to abandon the Red River Rivalry a week ago because of texas' LHN, are now willingly going hand-in-hand with texas to the west coast.

Something smells here.

Blackburn's Diouf Taunts Opponent with Broken Leg

When I first read the thread title, I thought that Diouf was literally taunting his opponents with his own broken leg. I had visions of Diouf grabbing his disjointed shin and waggling his flailing foot in the faces of opponents which immediately vaunted him into legendary status in my mind.

But then I kept reading.

Why Colorado Switched to the PAC-10

It was a good move. I'm an A&M alum and we all know that the Big XII (-2) is a sinking ship. It's only a matter of time before Texas goes independent and the rest of us scurry into other conferences like rats.

Can't say I'll miss our away games in Boulder. They always seem to give us fits.

Saban Uses Medical Scholarships to Free Roster Spots

I would honestly be surprised if more coaches did not do this. And I don't necessarily feel bad for the players who are being pushed out. It's not like they are being left out on the street. They are essentially being given golden parachutes...the ability to attend a top university free of charge without having to go to any practices or perform any duties. Good find though, rcade.

Michael Vick sparkles again; promptly gets benched

Seemed to work okay for the Titans when they stuck with Collins in 2008. It's risky either way, but if' you've got a hot hand in Vick, my opinion is that you need to play it. The guy has absolutely electrified his team.

American Scores One of Fulham's Greatest Goals

Gotta say, this is one of the more entertaining threads I've seen here in a while. I'm going to go with a shot on this one...but I can see the argument the other way as well. As a Juve fan, that one definitely hurt, but at least it was Dempsey that drove the knife in.

Fan Signs

Two classics from the Cal - USC ESPN Gameday a few years ago: "Beat The Commies" and "Go Football" And I personally witnessed these two at an A&M - OU game "Bob Stoops Smells Like Poops" and "Pop Ya Collar!" (With a big picture of an X-ray with a broken collar. Adrian Peterson had recently broken his collar bone).

"This is high-calibre marketing - taking an inferior product and improving it through packaging."

Regardless of how technical the league is, it's still borderline unwatchable because for 90% of the teams, the games just don't matter. Unless you are Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, or Arsenal, you really don't have a shot at winning the League title. There hasn't been a team outside of that group to win the championship since Blackburn did it in '95. Seriously, can anyone really get excited for a Portsmouth - Reading game?

Teams We Hate In This Year's NCAA Tournament

>If you remove all of the agriculture studies students from the Basketball team For f***s sake, you act like this only happens at A&M. Stop kidding yourself. Texas Tech had a guy with a 0.0 play for a year on their basketball team. Andy katzenmoyer could barely f****** read when he left OSU. This is an NCAA athletics issue, not an A&M issue. Quote from http://www.enquirer.com/editions/1999/12/05/spt_why_james_cant_read.html "Wayne Yates, formerly the basketball coach at Memphis State, once claimed an academic counselor had told him he “could keep a cockroach eligible for two years.” Andy Katzenmoyer maintained his standing at Ohio State with a cockroach curriculum featuring golf, music appreciation and AIDS awareness."
