Cleveland will not win the division! They may win a few more games than they did this past season with Hughes being healthy, but not the division. I think that Detroit will win it again because they will get a better mix from Nazr M. than they did from Ben. Don't misunderstand me, Nazr is no Ben, but he shoots it better from the charity stripe and can score better.

Puffy (then) and the Bad Boy Family said it best..."All about the Benjamins baby!" Ben will be missed in Detroit, but I believe the Pistons needed a shot in the arm after the ECF! Hopefully this will be it and they will put it together next season and make another run for the LOT! (Praying: Can they please get KG or Bonzi somehow, someway...Joe D. make some magic again!)

No no no no no! The worst pick was Darko over Carmelo, Bosh, Wade and anyone else in the top 10! When given a pick, especially that high, you take the best player available! The Knicks failed to do that by taking Rolando Balkman (Orlando Blakman in disguise and rejuvinated) over Williams! WTF?!

I've been saying KG all along, but the pistons would have to give up sheed and ben! But that would work because KG can replace both of them with his scoring and rebounding, he's a walking 20+12 guy every night! I agree that the "team" game has had its run and now it's time to recruit a slashing scorer with the ability to help defend.

I think it's time for Joe D. to recruit a scorer or a super star with talents like K.G. A player like K.G. can replace both Wallaces and will only lack in 3-point shooting. Is K.G. available? He can hook up with the Pistons and get that ring! He could add that scoring they need on the block and that 15-17 jumper with defense!

I don't think that on any level of competition that no one wants to be given "sympathy" plays or points or wins for that matter! We compete to win and the better we are than our competitors, the more they will work hard to make competitions thrive! How long did it take you to come up with that...brilliant!

The reason for playing sports is competition and that means there are people competing to win! Do we all go out to work and tell ourselves, "I am going to work to half of my ability today because I am making my co-workers look bad with my hard work, effort and abilities! Yes!!! I am glad that I can give a subpar effort!" No! Our bosses, coaches, wives or whomever wants the best out of us! So tell those kids to play hard and give it their best shot! Doesn't Antoine Walker look like a smaller version of Shaq without the ability to pick up his feet, rebound, dunk or post up? But, Atoine will be shut down cause of his lack of speed, which eliminates a 3rd scorer. Jason Williams plays erratically; posey and payton are streak shooters at best. As always, Detroit will have their hands full with Fall Guy Wade and the trusty old Shaq Diesel!

posted by bkdet at 11:59 AM on May 22, 2006
The competition level is a bit defferent for LeBron than MJ. Slightly changed rules, aging superstars and a lack of great teams to face are all things that could be considered when there is a comparison discussion. But they just missed playing in the NBA together by about 2-3 years and MJ was definitely on the decline! Compare LeBron to D. Wade, Kobe, KG, Duncan, T-Mac, players that are playing now in his era. LeBron is an excellent talent, but he has not become "great" nor is he a King; you have to conquer the land (win championships) before you can be rightfully called "The King". He will have his battles against Detroit, Miami, New Jersey, San Anton., Dallas, etc., but he has to beat them and win consitently!

Scoop said that LeBron will become better because of the beating he and the Cavs are taking now. But even if he does, what about his team? Also, will LeBron remain with the Cavs next summer (likely, but what would his price tag be)?

His contrived new personality is sickening, so he should just stick with being Kobe instead of "Media-Friendly Bryant"! He wants to be better than Jordan, but he has to "become Jordan" then surpass him. that will not happen due to 2 things; his dubious personality and the team that he plays with.

Although I am a Piston faithful, I have to say that they play dangerously some times against the weaker teams such as a Milwaukee Bucks. Against the better teams, they play hard and dominant through out the game, but as in the first half of that first game againt the "Sucks" they were giving up all types of shots to the basket. Now I know that they were a bit off, but even in the middle of the season, they would play around in the first half and take care of business in the second. I think they need to develop that killer instinct, which comes along with developing the bench. They need to close teams out early and then destroy them the rest of the way in the 2nd half! Playing around in the first could cost them the game in the 4th!

I got out of the ghetto without any "lucky" breaks! And the only help I got was advice! It's called preparation and hard work! Several of my friends and people I know have done the same. Old school bullshit? Where is the death and destruction coming from, who is killing and who is destroying? This is why we as a people get nowhere! There are always excuses and blame! Several people in this world work hard and get nowhere, black, white, whatever! But there are also several people who DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and still complain or use weak excuses as to why they can't or won't! Is it easier for us to be educated versus then? Several don't choose to go to school for whatever reason...they CHOOSE to! Many before us did not have a choice! What are the bigger more complicated issues when it comes to someone deciding what path to take in his or her life? "Should I stay in the hood and sell poison to this neighborhood cause I got to eat?" What kind of issues are we facing today that are that much worse than those issues faced by black people in the past? Man, we've got it easy compared to those who had to be sprayed, burned, persecuted, lynched, etc., just so that we can enjoy the right to be. People have fought and died for rights we take for granted every single day and how do we show our appreciation? Yeah, I guess it's not that simple for someone to put something else before themselves like an idea! What if MLK said "you know what, this is too hard! You cannot really compare the old teams to the more recent ones such as the Celtics who won 8 in a row to the Bulls that won 6 titles. I believe if we could see that match up, the most recent team would have an edge. The players of today's NBA are much stronger and athletic than those guys in the old days. I am not saying that today's players are more talented, but they are stronger and faster than those players of old. Of course athleticsm does not win games alone, but those guys (Celts) did not have to compete against a team filled with good athletes. The game was slower because the players were. Like I said, I am not saying that the player were more talented!
