Kicking for a China Bowl dream.: bugmenot: ihateyou/ password: losers The NFL is paying former Notre Dame kicker and longtime mercenary Nick Setta to train four Chinese Nationals to kick Field Goals. The two most successful will be on the sidelines, available for duty, for the August pre-season matchup between New England and Seattle, which is to be played in Beijing.

The Chinese nationals on New Englands sidelines could greatly improve their chances of seeing playing time if they happen to suffer from concussions. OK, that's a cheap shot. Sorry. I'd venture a guess that both coaches are going to have their arms twisted just a bit by the league to get the locals involved. Glad I'm not the one who has to ask either one of them late in the game when the Chinese fellows will get their chance to kick.

Everybody's at it trying to get the China market - the Indian cricket board have had coaches up here spreading the true faith. Basketball's big of course, but I suspect your dodgy version will never catch up with proper football. (flamebait :D) There's even the odd rugby side out here - I know the agriculture university competes in the Hong Kong Sevens.

An NFL game in a Commie Nation. (irony)

Discretion of use will be left to Holmgren and Belichick. Given the NFL's - and frankly most other pro sports leagues' - desire to make a mark in the untapped Chinese market, I've a hunch they'll see at least an XP or two.
