"World's Oldest Hockey Stick" goes for $2.2 million!: The curved hunk of hickory, believed to have been carved between 1852 and 1856, was purchased by an anonymous bidder. The purchase price will go to charity. Here's a shock: a Canadian bought it.

Note to self, go to Canada, find old tree, carve a stick from it to look like a hockey stick, claim it was from 1852 make millions on EBAY.

I figure they assume the winner was Canadian because no American would pay that much for an old piece of firewood.

Looks more like a field hockey stick! Anyone know if it was Ice, Field or even my favorite, Road Hockey, wait there were no paved roads in 1852, oh, who cares anyway, really. I am Canadian and don't give a hoot.

This is like when that guy spent $20,000 on the gum that Luis Gonzalez spit out as he was running down the 1st base line.

Okay, okay - I'll come clean. I bought it. Played a little road hockey with it last night. Frankly, the thing fucking sucks. I can't help but feel a bit ripped off.

If the bidder was anonymous, how does he know this person was Canadian? And why the prejudice against non-Canadians? Pretty interesting, TBH. Although I didn't think that you could appreciate the stick unless you got a full view. So I found this picture and this picture for a better view.
