New England v. Bill Polian, Take 10: "The New England Patriots have formally asked the NFL to ensure the safety of Patriots employees when the team hosts the Indianapolis Colts and their explosive president at Gillette Stadium on Sunday night, Nov. 5."
It's not even a real rivalry since both teams have to take turns winning to establish a rivalry. How would you explain Yanks/Red Sox pre-2004?

Dear New England management and staff, We'd love to help you out with security in handling "Wild Bill" Polian, but we'll be too busy helping to install the new turf it took you forever to finally admit you needed. Also, grow up. Love, The NFL

I read the story you posted above yerfatma. I found it quite interesting. Why the Pats would ask for "safety for their employees" kind of baffles me. I don't think anyone on the Patriots staff is really afraid, of all people, Bill Polian. I think that if he tries what he did in the Meadowlands down here in Foxboro, he might get his ass handed to him. But then again,Bob Kraft and the rest of his employees I think have got a little more class than that. I don't think anyone has ever seen Scott Pioli, Jonathan Kraft,or Kraft himself slam tables, grab people by their shirts,or pull the other antics Polian supposedly has done. This is the first I have heard or read about this. Last year, the Colts finally beat us. Maybe after Nov 5th, Polian might have a reason to punch a few tables.

From what jerseygirl posted yesterday, new turf will be in place for the Nov 5th game. Hopefully it will be done. That field was in horrendous condition.

You don't need security for this guy. The best way to keep him under control is to have him escorted by your legal staff....

How is it a penalty for two players to orchestrate a celebration, on the grounds that it's unsportsmanlike, but it's OK for an entire franchise to taunt another team's president? Mixed message.

Because one is a kind of taunting white people do, and the other is a kind of taunting black people do. Duh. [Only half joking; the Mighty MJD had a pretty good post about increasing league-enforced whitewashing of the NBA the other day.]

I don't think the entire franchise was taunting the Colts president. I think it's their way of letting him know that it won't be tolerated when they visit us down here in Foxboro. I'm sure Belichick will have a defensive scheme to stop the Colts' Manning and company, in which haven't really lit it up this year as in past. But that's who they should be worried about. Not little ole Bill Polian. But we have to take care of the Bills first!

I completely understand why Indianapolis would whine and bitch about the Patriots. I don't understand why New England would come up with foolishness to get at the Colts. What's the point? It's not even a real rivalry since both teams have to take turns winning to establish a rivalry.
