Oh dear. You committed one of jerseygirl's unforgivable sins. My the spofi gods have mercy on your poor, pathetic soul.

I personally hold you responsible for ruining a perfectly good Friday. You've certainly have been here long enough to have read the guidelines. Whammy.

"Gene Tenace at the plate... Whammy!" Regarding the FPP - please let me know if I'm ever that not funny.

I say what Bishop said. We're not idiots, really we're not idiots. I swear, most of us aren't idiots.

I suppose this is what Todd Jones was talking about when when he wrote a column for TSN.com and said he hated Philly fans.

posted by SummersEve at 03:04 PM on June 23, 2006

Yeah, but I think we all expect that from the City of Brotherly Shut Your Face. I like the plug for the midwest in that article. I've always thought we were classy fans.

Hey...I know that guy.

posted by Thisguy at 03:26 PM on June 23, 2006

I read that Todd Jones column. I suspect he couldn't handle the pressure of playing on the East Coast, that he's one of those "sensitive" players Yankees coach Larry Bowa was talking about a couple days back. Here's portion of the retort email I sent Jones at his sportingnews.com address: Yeah, the Philly fans might have given you a hard time, but that was because you sucked when you wore the red pinstripes, and you know it. Had you gotten anybody out and didn't look like you were just at the dentist on the field all the time, it might have been different for ya in Philly. For a primer on playing ball on the East Coast, look up Larry Bowa's comments from 2 days ago. Safe to say you're not that kind of player.

27 days until the Eagles start training camp? That's not far off from getting punched in the face.

posted by YukonGold at 03:35 PM on June 23, 2006

What did I say so wrong. This team is all wrong. There are some great palyers and yet every year the same results. I cannot take it anymore! Trade Burrell Abreu Lieberthal. In fact pay for them to leave. Build around utley, hamels, howard, and rowand. Everyone else is up for grabs. And, Our management told Jim Leyland he wasn't fit for the job???? Detroit is laughing in our face!!

posted by phillygator at 03:40 PM on June 23, 2006

Everyone in the country wants to blame Philly fans!!.....FOR WHAT??? Saying it how it is?!! Oh Well, Deal wit it!! Come to Our house and say your smack, better yet we will come to your stadium and take it over!! We are passionate and that will NEVER change! We expect an effort! If you don't bring it we will tell you about it!

every fan of every team will hammer a guy if he stinks. were philly fans just "saying how it is" when they cheered an injured michael irvin. your city thought so much of it's fanbase, it put a jail in the football stadium, for cryin out loud!!!!

posted by ksb122 at 04:31 PM on June 23, 2006

Wasn't so much a jail as a drunk tank... And it wasn't so much that they put a jail in it, as it was they put a judge in it. But any NFL stadium could probably go towards filling a drunktank. And it's quite a bit more civilized with the new stadium. ($$$) How is this still here?

See, the fact that this is still on the front page sends a message that this kind of FPP is entirely acceptable and the kind of thing that SpoFi endorses. Is that true?

No, it says no one was here to delete it. We need to code something to stop blank links.

Ksb, I respectfully disagree with your point of view on the basis of lack of evidence that proves that most classy Philly fans would every condone....[twitch twitch]... screw you, you flaming idiot, any Philly team will come to your home town and stomp your teams guts out, you blouse wearing Dallas fan...[twitch twitch].... Oh my...what happened? I swear I blacked out. What in the butterfly effect is going on around here?

I live near Philly and as much as the teams frustrate me, the fans frustrate me more. They all claim to be "the toughest fans in sports" when really they're just "the biggest whiners in sports."
