Different season, different results: Here's hoping Roger gets healthy and spins a beauty in Game 5. Just don't count on it.

Damnit Gary, you person of low morals, you failed athlete, you ridiculous Clemens hater, you no-good so-and-so... Just wanted to get there before Texan. It's been said before, and I'll say it here...I kid because I love.

Gary, does yours have Roger's name on the side? Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The guy comes off as someone who likes clemens, so I find his take interesting. You can't take the "you're biased" route with him. And along with his possible appearance tonight or tomorrow, and hey, it might be his last game, pretty topical also. Could be a huge time for clemens, good or bad. I remember the boone hr game. Along with the sox losing I remember thinking how roger dodged the blame again. Good times.

8 games, 2.37 ERA, 3-0 record, 49.3IP, 12BB, 49K That's Clemens' World Series record. That's pretty damn impressive. So, in summary: When it matters, he's great (regular season). When it really matters, he's okay (playoffs in general). When it really, really matters, he's great (World Series).

I watched your Cy Young candidate pitch last night, Lee Harvey Oswalt, I hope he wins it. He can put it next to the second place trophy his team will be getting tonight. Clemens will have the rest of his life to get ready for game #5! Sorry, I got Roy Oswalt mixed up with another famous Texan.

I hope Clemens comes into the game tonight and gets shelled. But then I hope he gets shelled every time he takes the mound. Him and Andy "My Personal Relationship with God that I'm sharing with you via this stupid TV commercial" Pettitte.

Sherrif Sully on Rajah (just for gary).

Great sub-post, yerfat. I think they should change the pitching award to the "Roger Clemens" award, and give one to Cy Young. And this isn't said in jest.

Dammit, I missed the repsonses. Oh well, here goes... Sherrif Sully on Rajah (just for gary). posted by yerfatma Yerfatma, you always come up with the best sox links, but this has to be some kind of joke. The stats are impressive. The article as a whole is not. They’re called Clemens bashers and they might just be the most uneducated – or ignorant — group of sports fans the country has ever known. Ahhh, start out with an insult. Why can Pedro, Larry and Manny be injured but not Clemens. He has been on the disabled four times the last 20 years. It’s not like he’s a hypercondriac. 4 times in 20 years, which makes it all the more remarkable that clemens has pulled himself out of 4, yes 4 post season games (3 if you don't believe blistergate). Until larry killed his back, how many games did he pull himself out of? Roger Clemens is the greatest pitcher to ever live. I doubt many clemen bashers would disagree. As if that statement alone makes all discussion of his faults moot. Sheriff Sully then goes on to blame Roger's problems on the fans, then on Dan Duquette, then the media. And when he comes to something he can't blame on someone else, clemens being over weight after the strike, he throws out the "everyone else was also" excuse. He signed more autographs at Fenway and around New England than Nomar Garciaparra or Pedro Martinez ever thought of Not even to bring up how you actually prove this, if you're going to use emotional arguments why didn't he bring up the press conference where clemens basically ignored the boston fans? And we actually have that on tape. It would’ve been nice to see Clemens with that World Series trophy last year. Think it would’ve meant more to us. Please. It meant more to me that he wasn't there. The fact that he had to join the yankees and win a ws is a wonderful fact to me. The following night, again with me in attendance, he was given his seventh Cy Young Award. His mother, Bess, with her oxygen tank and in a wheelchair, threw out the first pitch. Looking down on the field, seeing Clemens with his wife of 20-plus years and four sons, it just seemed so perplexing. Why wasn’t this guy good enough for us? What utter tripe. If you believe I'm so biased as to be unreliable on clemens, this guy is all the way on the other end. I'd be surprised if he doesn't have children named after roger. The best thing I got from that article was in the comments. The Case against Roger Clemens (Keith Olbermann) So, in summary: When it matters, he's great (regular season). When it really matters, he's okay (playoffs in general). When it really, really matters, he's great (World Series). posted by grum@work Grum, you know I admire your stats take, but in this case you've been lazy. It doesn't show the whole picture. Roger has not been a great post season pitcher. Olbermann's article pretty much lays it out. One example, what would roger's era be if hadn't take himself out of so many games he was being slammed? Add the playoffs and ws together and clemens hasn't been great. If you haven't followed baseball and just look at the stats, maybe so, and in 20 years, when all anyone remembers are the stats, he'll be thought of as great in the post season. And he wasn't. Just throwing out a couple of stats is as misleading as not take the stats into consideration. Got a post season game to win? Clemens isn't on the short list, which makes your idea of clemens being great when the most is at stake lacking. I think they should change the pitching award to the "Roger Clemens" award, and give one to Cy Young. And this isn't said in jest. Regular season, you've got a point. Post season, only if in regards to comedy.
