Buehrlie think that Texas may be "stealing" signs: He says that the use of a scoreboard light may be responisble for the Rangers hitting better at home. I thiink that were are starting to hear excuses from a Team that may be starting to doubt themselves!

This is so sad. He loses a game and looks for any excuse to not look bad. How about you take the loss like a man and a professional? If they did steal signs, so what! Seems like all year long a really good thing was happening in this city {although I hate the Sox...Cub fan here, sad isn't it?} and nowadays, these guys keep passing off losses on everyone else but them. Let's look at it this way...If Buehrlie wasn't allowing base-runners like earlier in the season, there would be no sign stealing. While that seems like a silly comment, that's how he and other Sox pitchers made themselves out to be earlier this season-Too Good To Beat. Final thought, I would like to see this city have a winner for two reasons. It's good for a towns economy when you have a winner playing in it and for all those Sox fans past and present who have cheered for this team and the Cubs to bring a pennant home. Knowing the Cubs won't do it {and at this point maybe never!}, We need this team to do our city proud, not bellyache. Mark, quit crying foul and just do your job with pride.

Don't all teams try to "steal" signs?

Only one thing to do. Spin around and fire a high hard one at the scoreboard.

Oh, that would be so awesome, YukonGold. Especially if in post-game interviews, he denied having any reason for it.

On July 30 they were 14.5 games ahead of cleveland in the AL central. Now they are only 7. This is a pathetic attempt at an excuse for one loss, how about the rest of those games. Freddy Garcia pitched a complete game, a week or two ago, only gave up 1 run and LOST. The ace of the staff is the guy who speaks up, and that's Buehrle. Maybe this is what he should be addressing, not flashing little lights! Plus they have to play Cleveland at least four more times in September.

Should be a fun drive to the final weeks of this season, aye kids?

All teams steal signs - then deny doing it. A non-story to be sure.

posted by WeedyMcSmokey at 01:51 PM on August 30, 2005

A teams steal signs from time to time-according to Buehrlie, this more than a guy on second stealing the signs and relaying them in. He is saying that "lights" are being used to signal the pitches which would indicate an elaborae plan to cheat! You are right weedy, this is a non-story except for the fact that Buehrlie is using it as an excuse of loosing the game.

Teams stealing signs is par for the course. A team stealing signs by using office building lights is hilarious. I'd never heard of this—that's awesome.

Goddamnit, it's "Buehrle". Guess Ozzie's "smart ball" hit a bump in the road. Whodathunk?

This isnt the first time he's cried foul about something. he accused a cubs pitcher of putting a substance on the ball. buerle needs to forget about other players and concentrate on winning a game instead.

indicate an elaborae plan to cheat! There was a post on spofi several weeks ago, in it someone linked to an article about the ventilation system being changed in the metrodome. Of course no one in management knew about it, it was just the maintenance crew doing it.

I remember that az, it was Greg Maddox he was referring to. It was during a time of inter-league play when the Sox were all complaining that Cubs get more fan support from this city than they do. Carl Everett even said that he hated wrigley field so much that it should be torn down. Now even if not a Cub fan, who can say that about a heaven on earth like that place? I've been to the "new" Comisky a few times to see some games and I thought that it was a very nice park. Better than the other Comisky but not as historic.

Wait till they get done with the added bleachers and boxes. Then we'll see how it looks. CUBS STILL SUCK. Couldn't play with themselves let alone anyone else. I just hope the good guys get their act together, quickly.

Yes, the Metrodome. Talk about fan support!

You'd think Mark would mayhaps be better served directing his anger towards his teammates whose 4 errors last night led to 3 unearned runs. I was listening to Game 1 of today's double-header in my car on my way home when Mark Teixeira hit a two run home in the bottom of the first. Local sportscaster Victor Rojas quickly chimed in with a "I tell you, the way those blinking lights work in centerfield that told Mark what was coming just work like magic". Pretty funny. FWIW, Rojas also went on to say that the vast majority of the Rangers just laughed about Buerhle's accusation, with a few that were just slightly miffed.

Let's see: Texas is a slugging team, plays in a hitter's park in a hot climate and, how 'bout that, plays better at home. Must be the lights.

Ok, I don't say much on this site but I have to speak up now. SHUT UP SOX AND TAKE THE LOSS! If they hadn't commited 4 errors and given up 3 unearned runs they would have had a score of 5/4 with a win in their pocket. ENOUGH SAID!

posted by skydivemom at 05:53 PM on August 30, 2005

One more thing - The cubs don't suck. At least we know how to take a loss like a man and not make excuses by saying the other team cheated!

posted by skydivemom at 05:57 PM on August 30, 2005

So the Rangers are using an elaborate plan to cheat. That would explain why they have such a great record and are so far out in front of the rest of the teams in thier division......Oh, wait

skydive mom is an idiot- you dont play for the cubs so please dont say "we" when you refer to the team. Go SOX.

She pointed out the errors resulted in enough runs to cost the Sox the game and that makes her an idiot? If we didn't self-identify with teams, sports wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar industry. And I wouldn't be contemplating murdering Curt Schilling on the road home tonight.

she didnt point out anything except that she is insane and so are you. I have to go hang with my friends that I can identify with so i dont have to sit here and pretend to be someones psychologist

chicago is just crying b/c they are playing like crap....period, if buehrle stuff was so great that night then it wouldnt matter what those hitters knew was coming...

That story was pure bunk! Do you have a source for that? I've seen the story in question related in newspapers as fact.

Ken "the hawk" Harrelson probably told Buehrle this amazing conspiracy theory. You all know how big a baby the Hawk is when the Sox are getting wacked!!

Cheating in baseball? That would never happen! Just ask Gaylor Perry, Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds. Just don't do it before a senate panel.

What to the Cubs not sucking have to do with the White Sox who are over-rated and are sputtering towards the finish line.
