McNabb and T O: The two of them hook up for a touchdown on their first play together, AGAIN. At least this year it was olny 64 yards not 81. Not too bad for two teammates who won't even share the same bench!!

Just imagine how deadly of a combination these two could actually be if they could put everything that has happened aside, no matter whose fault, and start over. Just think of the numbers we could possibly see get put up.

I've always loved McNabb even at Syracuse. Wasn't Marvin Harrison on that team? Or maybe it was after Harrison had left.

McNabb and Harrison hooked up for 2 glorious seasons at Syracuse . Ah, those were the days .

The only place where self-promotion is frowned upon here is in front-page links. McNabb and Owens may be exceptionally good this year. Every one of Donovan's passes is powered by personal hatred.

Agreed. The Eagles could make it to the Super Bowl on spite alone.

Thanks for the clarification rcade.... I am glad for the Eagles that TO is playing cause I happen to be a big Andy Reed Fan. However I dont see TO playing 'nice' all season. I just wish that we would stop hearing about him all of the time!

Just glad to see TO score & get some decent stats. He & McNabb will get on the same page, & might even share the same bench! TO was a steal in my fantasy draft.

posted by Bobochub at 01:59 PM on August 27, 2005

TO is just going play like hell for the first few games to make the Eagles see how much he can mean to them. Then he'll play like crap or milk an injury and, in so many words, tell the Eagles that if they want him to play, renegotiate the contract.

posted by roberts at 04:44 PM on August 27, 2005

Imagine the contract leverage T.O could have if he puts up last years numbers, get's them to the super bowl, and actually wins it.

This TO thing is really getting on my nerves. Either shut up and play well, or go home to your million dollar house and sulk. The Eagles are a great team, with or without him. Though I'll say this...with TO actually playing instead of bitching (can I say that?) we could win a Super Bowl

I think the only reason this thread was created was due to the whole "first play TD" thing like last year. And if you go back and read the previous thread concerning T.O.,there were a few people saying he couldnt exist on the same field with mcnabb. Low and behold a TD first play, first pass. i think after all the negative attention(most of it deserved)that TO got in the last thread about him, this thread is very "news worthy".It went from T.O. wont play for the eagles this year to 5 catches, 131 yrds, 1 TD(on the first play like last year)in the first half alone. thats beyond remarkable(yea yea yea preseason doesnt matter, however all starters were playing)Some people have different opinions.I dont see the point to repeatedly attack a persons thread just because you are "tired" of the topic. Just dont comment at all. Im sure if admin had a problem with this "fpp", they would address it with the posting member. Posting a comment to a thread in regard to whether or not you deem it FPP worthy is argumentative at best, and has nothing at all to do with moving the topic along. i mean ,seriously are you really trying to tell another member what and what not to post?Move on to another thread. Its not a requirment to read all of them. If i see something that doesn't interest me, i don't even read it.I just let the people who are interested in it discuss it among themselves. The same way i would want them to let me post and discuss whatever i like. As pertaining to the topic. jojomfd1, you're right. not bad at all.A few members of espn said this guy wouldnt even put an eagles uniform on this year, let alone step on the field. I think he will set another club record and lead the league in one stat or another.Just my opinion. I hope i dont get verbally beat up for this. I mean who really cares what i think.

I dont see the point to repeatedly attack a persons thread just because you are "tired" of the topic. I don't see the point of using the word "repeatedly" to refer to the first occurrence of an event. This is the first time I've commented on the presence of these Owens-and-McNabb-are-sulking-and-not-speaking-to-each-other threads. Just dont comment at all. I don't think I'll do that, thanks just the same -- and you would do well to read and think about what I'm saying rather than simply repeating a bunch of things that other people have said in response to different situations. This isn't like a non-golfer posting in a golf thread saying, "Golf is stupid!" -- that's a situation where, yes indeed, the proper response is to ignore the thread and move on. In this case, however, there are two possible dimensions to this "story", and both of them are extremely shallow. One is what I said earlier: a quarterback threw a pass, and a receiver caught it. Dog bites man. A very nice completion, to be sure, but noteworthy in the annals of sport? Not really, and you wouldn't argue that it makes sense to have a fpp for every nice pass, or every home run, or whatever. The other dimension is this whole "are TO and McNabb speaking" thing. This, to be blunt, is nothing but gossipy minutia, and if that's the standard for fpps, we'd have a hundred new fpps every day, with the bulk of the comments being nothing more than "yes they are" "no they aren't" -- because, really, what else can you say about gossipy minutia? And in conclusion, Web_Spiner, if I thought this was something that merited admin attention, I'd have taken it to an admin. It's not in that category; however, it is what I call it, and if people read my comments and maybe think before making a "look at the kinda neat (but not really out of the ordinary) thing that my favorite team did this week" posts, I think that's a good thing. Sorry if you don't feel that way.

I, for one, actually enjoy this D.M.-T.O. stuff. The ones that are sick of it should be on-the-ball enough to pick up from the lead-in what the post has to do with. Like some of the soccer posts. They don't interest me, personally, so I generally don't open them up. As for the T.O. thing, as long as McNabb's passes are hitting him well and often, things will be fine. Once the duo hits a rough spot for a game or two, then things will flare up again. How it's handled during the regular season, when things count, is what will be interesting. I guarantee this will be the year I end up with T.O. on a few of my fantasy team. I've never had him before, and I have a way of taking supposed "studs" from the year before and watching them spiral down the toilet when they join my squad. Yes, I finally got Priest Holmes last year. 'Nuff said.

I'm a diehard Bengals fan, so I pretty much hate McNabb/TO at this point, but I still thought it was a worthwhile fpp. Heck, if Manning and Harrison hit an 80 and 65 yard pass as their first plays of consecutive seasons, point it out. However, all of these comments are meta junk about self-promotion, and whther this was deserving of being a front page post. Congrats LBB, worthwhile topic or not, reading this page is a waste of time regardless. The only consolation is it was even more of a waste of your time to type all that complaining. If nothing else, with all of the posts dedicated to their spat, there should be a thread where SpoFi's can weigh in on the reunion. JoJo, nice work finding a good angle to run with. Sorry not everyone thinks this is up there with "My opinion of the Seahawks secondary" and "Phillies might make playoffs".

Hey, no disrespect intended on my part. opinions are like... everybody has one, post away. I guess i was kind of guilty of the samething(attemping to suppress someone else's opinion) I think the duo will do well this year. TO is so "hell bent" on proving himself right,he will do everything in his power to prove he deserves what he asks for. I think thats the difference between Moss and TO. While Moss will walk off before a game is over, TO will go down trying to prove he's right. Either way they both have issues that i wont judge them for. i mean, no one has died in my profession(directly related to the job)that i can remember. The guy that picks up my trash has a bad attitude(and i think he smokes weed)i hear him every time he's here complaining about something. But you know what, he gets all the trash everytime.I take the good with the bad. My previous trash man said hi all the time and was always pleasent. While constantly leaving trash behind. take a guess who i think the bigger asswhole is? I'll take the guy who does his job well everytime. I can live with the crying and complaining and the bad attitude.i cant live with the trash piling up.

Damn, the amount of hypocrisy on this site is amazing some times!!!!!! when you talk about the hypocrisy here, there are only a "select few".they stick together like 23 mexicans mowing the lawn of a 1 bedroom townhouse.(calmdown,im 1/8 and 3/14ths mexican)they summon admin at every turn. They call thier "o.g. member" friends to a thread so fast where someone has disagreed with them, that it will remind you of someone getting thier sneaker stepped on in middle school and then asking 4 friends to "watch his back" while he contemplates sucker punching the culprit in the lunch room. besides those very few admin brown-noser members, who think thier every post should grace the cover of sports illustrated, its really not that bad of a site.

guys, you shouldn't have to apologize for anything. Personally, I made my opinion on the TO issue very clear in another thread and don't need to re-hash it, but I don't think anyone should have regrets over a topic important to him or her. You have just as much right as anyone here to create an FPP...but don't take it personally if someone rails against you. Keep doing what you're doing...this is a forum for debate and we all have to understand that there will rarely be a consensus on any of these issues.

I'm guilty of it. You're guilty of it. We're all guilty of it. Hopefully you understand now that its not you personally that the other members are railing against, its TO. lilnemo's so right. We haven't had a good back-hair link on SpoFi since I don't know when. And yeah, the TO thing is going to need some more news, or at least some new angles, to keep this from becoming horseburgers. But that's no reason to pretend you're being punished, jojo. No one's beating you up. This thread is just the 5th thread in the last three weeks on this one topic, and it's starting to feel a little played out. If you have a new angle, don't hesitate to post it. It's just that some people have lived with the discussion here on Spofi for 3 weeks straight, and it's getting a little stale. That's not censorship -- if you have a new angle, don't hesitate to post it -- but just so you understand why people are reacting this way.

The two of them hook up for a touchdown on their first play together, AGAIN. At least this year it was olny 64 yards not 81. Not too bad for two teammates who won't even share the same bench!! This is a totally different angle. the last thread about TO was based on him crying and acting like an ass. Also everyone was posting how fed-up they were about the topic, about eagles fans, and about the media coverage. The discussion then turned to TO must go and people were saying TO will not play for the eagles. That he couldnt exist on the eagles without talking to DM. turns out first play of the game he shows how deadly he is and how hard he is to cover one on one.I thought JoJo made a valid point, and brought some light back to the "sports" aspect of TO's worth to a ball club(instead of always highlighting the bullshit like the media does). 2 catches for 95 yards and a TD with 9 mins to go in the 2nd qrt is a monster stat no matter what receiver did it.It just happen to be a player that "experts" said wouldnt even wear his teams uniform again. Again JoJo good job on posting a topic about TO that had nothing to do with him crying/asking for money/or acting like a baby. Alot of people expected DM not to throw him the ball much,or TO to have some "suspicious drops".but that didnt happen. if it did, trust me,there would have been atleast 2 or 3 FPP's about that.but instead they put up manning/harrison full game like numbers in only one qrt.the first play of the game aspect of this thread is itself worthy of a FPP(when compared to flip-flops and body hair). Again, if you're tired of a topic, dont read the thread.(unless your motive is to argue).
