Mickelson birdies last for PGA Championship: If only I'd been comfy watching on my couch for this. How'd they let this roll over into Monday?
Weather. They had some pretty bad thunderstorms yesterday in NJ. We had a hell of a storm last night in Philly...a tree on my block got hit by lightning. I was pulling for Elk.

I live in Jersey. We haven't had rain in a while and it was as if Mother Nature was trying to make up for it all at once. You couldn't play golf in that.

Yeah. Those raindrops yesterday were like water balloons. They were right to shut it down, even so close to the end. Congrats to Mickelson. He was full value for the victory.

Weather helped Phil win. The way the course played yesterday was an advantage to Tiger. He was sitting in the Club House watching everyone come back to him. If it hadn't rained, Tiger would have at least been in a playoff. Of course, "If" is a big word. Phil played tough down the stretch and deserved the win. Has anyone else noticed how hot his wife is?

Mickelson said that he thought the delay was an advantage. Of course, he also requested the PGA to move the tee times up an hour to avoid this outcome.

They only wanted to keep the audience until 7 p.m. eastern so it would go right into "60 Minutes" on CBS. Everyone thought the decision should have been to move all the tee times up yesterday morning, but to keep CBS happy (which is the only thing that matters to the PGA) they ignored the fact they would probably have a weather delay at some point during the final round. If storms hadn't been the problem, darkness may have. Mickelson mentioned earlier in the tournament it was getting dark to finish a major. I'm happy he won.

Monday wins are always anti-climatic, but I thought Mickelson winning with a birdie on 18 after hitting his drive so close to the Nicklaus plaque was nicely historic. I was hoping that someone big won the PGA Championship at Baltusrol, since Nicklaus won two of his majors there. Lefty ought to be good for another couple majors in his career. In the last round, there sure were a lot of missed 12-foot-and-under putts from the best golfers in the world. Gives me hope.

My reference was more along these lines, as others have alluded to. It just seems that if you've got that many people watching why not increase the chances of getting it in by creating some wiggle room. Maybe I've just "got a case of the Monday's" and not gonna watch 60 Minutes anyways.

I don't want to take anything away from Phil but I think what Tiger pulled of has to be one of the best comebacks ever. He was tied for 113th after the first round and comes all the way back to 4th. I could understand something like that happening on a course that everyone shoots 20 under but not at Baltusrol. I don't know of anyone who could have pulled that off. He played the last three rounds at -7. If Tiger isn't the best player out there, I'd like to know who he is.

It's nice to see a family man win.

Too bad his boy didn't make the picture. He was too busy running laps around the 18th green. Got to love kids.

Those in charge of the decision not to move the top players' tee times up yesterday should be beaten with a rusty one-iron. Fuck "60 Minutes" and have the tourney finish in four days the way it should. No one's watching those crusty old bastards anyhow -- except other crusty old bastards. Can someone, anyone, get Andy Rooney a hummer? For God's sakes, the man looks and acts like he hasn't had an orgasm in 45 years.

Nice to see Phil win. He now is looking like the golfer we always thought he could be!

I don't know if just anyone would just give Andy Rooney a hummer. Plus, it would most likely kill him.... which is a good reason to arrange the hummer, true. Phil is turning from flabby whipping boy into flabby major champion. This is not fair for unflabby terrible golfers like myself. Who's next on the list of guys we passive viewers need to berate? It just wouldn't feel right getting on Corey Pavin again.

I'm wondering why David Duval hasn't returned to his old form. He's not even close. It almost seems like he doesn't care. He has played in 14 events with 13 cuts and a WD. Hell, I could do that well. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on with him?

Great win for Phil, he didn't have the major performance this year I think most expected but this was a tough track and he proved he's still right there with the other top players
