Some Things are Sacred: Lifelong (and beyond) Pittsburgh Steelers fan James Henry Smith was laid out in a recliner for his memorial service this week, a remote in his hand and the team playing on a high-definition television.
Being from Pittsburgh, I can see that happening and so much more. It is unbelieveable how the people here follow the Steelers. The color analyst of the Steelers just retired a few weeks ago. That made the front page of the paper and was the lead story on every local news channel. Not to mention he got the key to the city. Football is king here.

That's awesome. If my wife would let me buy an HDTV, I could die a happy man.

Hmmm. I'm thinking I should speak with Myron Cope about creating a larger sized Terrible Towel to drape over coffins.

I wanna be stuffed and placed at the front door with my hands out so you can hang your coat on me ("it's the most useful he's ever been", they'll all say). I'll wear a Leafs jersey - just to stay on topic.

That's actually a surprisingly accurate portrayal of the Leafs' playoff drives over the past thirty-odd years—at the doorstep, hands outstretched, but nonetheless dead and stuffed.

Hasek was great for the Sens last year, huh?

Keep your hockey out of the dead Steelers' thread. It's disreprectful! :)

Very cool and creative. Hopefully my family doesn't display me, though, in what they believe is my favorite position in my home: sitting on the can reading the newspaper.

This is good. As one who has actually thought about how I want to "go Out", This provides some inspiration. Afterall funerals should be a celebration of one's life. I hope this man was "at peace" when he died. Sounds like he may have been....
