Big Sports Weekend: The Stanley Cup, the World Cup, NBA Finals, French Open finals, Tyson vs. Lewis, and the final leg of the Triple Crown. What are you going to watch?

That's a good question. Definite: Stanley Cup Finals- I have to, I love hockey NBA Finals- I want to see the Lakers lose Probable: Tyson vs. Lewis (at a sports bar)- the hype has drawn me in, I want to see what will happen Triple Crown- I saw War Emblem's last win and was intrigued, I'd like to see if he can win it all Maybe: World Cup- the U.S. doesn't play until June 10, so I'll probably skip the WC for some much needed sleep French Open Finals- the Williams sisters matchup will be fun to watch, but will I have time?

Stealing insomnyuk's idea... Definite: Barry Bonds at Yankee Stadium (a treat for us AL fans) War Emblem's Triple Crown Shot (would be nice to see it happen) Probable: Stanely Cup Finals (but with the Leafs out, I'm just not as hyped as I was before) World Cup (but getting up on the weekend at 7:00am?) Definitely not: NBA Finals (not a basketball fan, and am brainwashed into thinking the Lakers will sweep anyways) French Open (I haven't cared about tennis since Borg retired) Heavyweight Title Fight (unless someone else pays for it)

WORLD CUP IS ALL I AM WATCHING!!!!

Definitely the race. I can invest five minutes on the chance of seeing something that's only happened twice in my lifetime. I'd like to see the fight, but I'm not going to pay for it. I'm with insomnyuk - sports bar. Shouldn't take too long anyway -- Lewis will prevail in 5 rounds. Highlights of the French Open would be nice, but I won't schedule my weekend around it. Couldn't care less about the NBA, but I will inevitably be forced to watch since my wife is from Joisey. What's the World Cup? Oh, yeah, that game where European guys kick that little ball around. I'll probably watch some over coffee in the morning, depending on the amount of time and money spent in the sports bar. And I'll let Sportscenter keep me up to date on the Stanley Cup. I guess no one is gonna watch the Buick Open, huh?

Rugby's Zurich Championship final in the UK. Sarries aren't in it but I'd love Gloucester to win something for all the beautiful rugby they've played this season. It's the last game of the season I have to watch otherwise I'll kick myself in those long rugbyless summer months. Oh and the world cup, but I'm not sure if I can take anything more after England yesterday.

it was a pleasant treat the Yankee games are all on on KTVU out here in the bay area. So that's my big weekend event :) And Game 3 tomorrow afternoon. That's all I care about... the hell with Tyson and the williams sisters. It's too bad they can't both lose :(

I'll be watching baseball, baseball, baseball. I'm sort of torn on this interleague play, but it's Pedro vs Schilling Saturday afternoon on the Fox game of the week. The last two times the Red Sox were on national broadcasts, we were shellacked. I'm hoping the "old Pedro" makes more than a cameo appearance this time.

I'm with Jersey Girl... I've woken up too early too many times this week to do more soccer, horse racing bores me, the NBA game will be over before it starts... Schilling-Martinez is where its at.

The World Cup. There's other sport?

jerseygirl, my new theory is that Pedro's ERA is inversely correlated with the game time temperature. It looks like it'll be in the 70s today, so there's hope. I'd sit Schilling in both of my roto leagues, but the cynical side of me says I'd be twice as pissed at the end of the day.

World Cup. I am unconvinced of the existence of sports other than football.

World Cup. I already missed Warwickshire reaching the final of some one day competition, hadn't even give it a second thought, and I was a member for years before I relocated. I am completely subsumed by the world cup, loving every minute of it. I will hate it when we don't get 3 games a day, I will be bereft. Oh, and I will listen to Tyson- Lewis if am not spark out.

I might be the only person tuning in to golf this weekend, but I run a fantasy golf league, so I'm a little wacko about watching boring guys walk around in khakis. Besides that, I'm interested in Giants-Yanks at the Stadium (NY Yankee fan living in Bay Area). And I'll watch a lot of SportsCenter. Other than that, I'm gonna get out and enjoy the beautiful Bay Area weather with my wife.

I'm currently watching the 3rd overtime of the Stanley Cup Finals. This is a perfect example of why hockey is the most exciting game on the planet. I'll also be staying up to watch the Mexico - Ecuador World Cup game. Every four years I'm reminded of just how cool "soccer" (yeah, I know, and I'm sorry) can be when the teams are made up of the most skilled players in the world. This is a hell of a lot better than the last MetroStars game I attended. By the way, I'd like to thank everyone who's been posting regularly about the World Cup. Reading your posts (from all sorts of countries) has been extemely informative and has made the first round much more interesting for a guy who hasn't really paid much attention to soccer since high-school.

Samsonov, if you are prepared to wait a minute while the thing loads, you will find a pretty definitive history of the world cup here.
