Goal celebrations seem like one of the best parts of soccer. Why you'd want to clamp down on that is beyond me.

Aw, he's ex-milwall, he'd have got sent off anyway? I think that FIFA decided to introduce this ruling because of a Diego Forlan incident, where he scored but then couldn't get the shirt back on for about 10 minutes - his mother normally dresses him for the game you see, oh and Ruud normally scores his goals for him too: link His goal celebration involved taking off his shirt and it became a famous incident when he scored his next goal at home to Southampton a week later. His late 25 yard effort won the game 2-1 but he couldn't get his shirt back on. Forlan rejoined the action bare-chested, racing back to make one timely tackle inside his own box to the delight of the home fans before being ordered to the touchline to replace the missing top. Though why FIFA decided to change the rules to stop all players taking their shirts off in celebration I have no idea - this kind of incident surely belongs under a referees discretion (prob. timewasting/ungentlemanly conduct), rather than an explicit rule?

ew, forced me to link to a man united supporters site. I feel all dirty. Bring back Silver Goal!! Please god no. Or Golden goal. What on earth is wrong with two periods of extra time and then penalties at the end?

Please god no. Or Golden goal. What on earth is wrong with two periods of extra time and then penalties at the end? Uh, thats what Silver Goal is BC... If a team scores a goal in the first half of overtime and the other team then ties it up in the same period, it goes to the second period of overtime. Do you not know what Silver Goal is?

i think what BC is saying that he likes it the way it is now, where 2 extra periods are played regardless of the score after the 1st extra period.

Blatter needs to go find a new place to annoy. Hasn't he done enough for football already?
