EBay seller David Partington has put nothing up for bid, selling it to the highest bidder to protest the large number of sellers who listed Pat Tillman memorabilia this week to "cash in on the death of an American hero." The auction has reached $1,425 after being covered on ESPN.Com.

[The inside story behind what I was thinking as I posted this link: Mmm, Twizzlers.]

I wonder if eBay will take it down. [I like cantankerous rcade]

I wonder how many of the eBay sellers this guy is protesting against are sitting back laughing, thinking thanks for the extra publicity.

Oh my God, people are trying to profit from sports memorabilia? Stop the presses! I mean, seriously, can the public slow down for a minute on the canonization of this kid?

can the public slow down for a minute on the canonization of this kid? The public can't do anything about the canonization (unless they can root out 3 miracles he performed in his lifetime, and contributing to a Cardinals win doesn't count); they are free to complain about exploiting the life of someone who refused to exploit their own.

The public can't do anything about the canonization Oh please, this kid's getting more ink than an octopus orgy. He wanted to be treated like everyone else, didn't he? Quick, without searching, name some more soldiers who died in Afghanistan, and the circumstances of their military careers (other than Kevin Tillman). As far as the memorabilia goes, buying and selling is what sports memorabilia is for.

rcade, I am deeply offended that you would associate the deep and personal relationship we all share with Twizzlers, with the frivolous notion of a truly selfless human being. Did I mention I am deeply offended.

Cherry, strawberry, or licorice?

Can everyone just agree right now that the rogue Flavours de Twizzle are gross and are a crime against nature and mankind? I've seen chocolate, watermelon, green apple, blueberry. I am an all strawberry kind of girl. Licorice? Never. I'm even iffy on cherry.
