Tickets to the stadium too expensive? Parking too crazy? Then don't go the stadium, bring the stadium to you. Yet another entry into the sports collectibles market: Collectible Replica Stadiums. But if stadiums aren't your cup of tea, then how about your own inflatable "automated" hockey goalie? <insert inflatable goalie and/or airheaded goalie jokes here>
It does look cool. But I wonder about a company that produces a nice animated intro but uses the word "inovation" during the intro.... I wouldn't mind the Maple Leaf Gardens replica for my dad.

tieguy, why would that be sad?

I am a big stadium guy, but I'm less than impressed. I guess I was hoping for larger, more accurate models. Like what the architects build to show things before it's created. Now those I'd be all over.

I thought the first Q of the FAQ for the inflatagoalie was funny since it suggested that it should be used between 10 and 25C. So not much of an ice hockey goalie then. But then I watched the commercial and I changed my mind and thought that it ruled. Well, at least the 9 year old kid in me was totally wanting one after seeing that advert.

Shouldn't the micro-machine guy be pimping these?

billsaythis: I like to keep my hoops addiction slightly low key, yet I've already got two pieces of basketball floor, a signed basketball (from the 2000 women's team) and a number of other bits of framed stuff (including the tie). Any more paraphernalia crossed the line from 'overdone' to 'sad', I guess :)

Hardly seems close to sad, mkn, there are a lot worse ways to spend your leisure dollars.

I wasn't the one that said it was sad -- I still have my hockey card collection.

Heh, sure, but most of those worse ways to spend your leisure dollars leave a lot less evidence scattered around your house for all your visitors to see. [This week's example being flying to Durham for 48 hours to watch the #1 Duke women play #2 Tennessee and watch Alana Beard get her jersey retired. I called that one after her first game.][Oh, and watching UNC blow that lead at FSU today was sweeeet.]

mkn: your profile page makes my eyes bleed, albeit in a cool, soothing sort of way.

Sadly, I've considered buying this.
