Miami Herald columnist Greg Cote: "the Dolphins were doing everything possible Sunday night to do what might have been thought impossible: To play worse than they looked."

alright, I'll say it. I don't mind the orange jerseys.

Boy, that Chris Chambers is one hell of a receiver. I couldn't watch the whole game, got too bored. Tonight's MNF game is a probable dog as well.

i'm glad i missed it.....those unis are terrible. and WTF is going in the NFL as far uniforms go? i saw the eagles last week with black jerseys? the broncos earlier this year rocking both blue pants and jerseys. jags with black unis......it's the XFL-ification of the NFL. seahawk green anybody?

I have to agree with Cote about one thing — I thought I had flipped on an ESPN Classic Hurricanes replay for a second also. I didn't care for them much, although it sure as hell made them really easy to see. It was like having 11 traffic cones playing zone. FWIW, Trung Candidate absolutely destroying Zach Thomas to pick up a first down was priceless.

I saw the first half and I don't think the jerseys are awful. I like orange. Looks like I missed an exciting comeback too. Damn these pesky timezones.

As I understand it, NFL teams are allowed to use their third shirt 3 times a season. I've seen Houston in red, and Carolina in light blue, and I thought both looked better than the normal shirts. Philadelphia in black and Miami in orange, on the other hand, didn't look so good. Why is it that in this day and age one team is still required to play in white? Why can't both teams wear their primary colour except where there is a clash? Why would a secondary colour even need to be white?

I liked them in orange. But then I also own the Bruins third jersey, which everyone else seems to hate.

Oliver, word, and let's just be thankful the 49ers don't feel the need to dress themselves so poorly.

Salmacis: your question about light and dark colored jerseys sent me on a search for a player who suffers from color-blindness but I stopped in frustration when I learned that color-blindness is more of a social condition in football than a medical condition affecting one's eyesight. The only connection I did find between color-blindness and the NFL was from gay.com: Al Davis is color blind. Upon reflection, I don't know if that reference is about a medical condition or his fashion sense. Not that there's anything wrong with that. /seinfeld reference

Dick, they use to say Vinny Testaverde was/is color blind - is that who you're thinking of?

I didn't mind the orange jerseys... ...however, with that said, I'm a little worried that the NFL is taking a page from the NBA's "Hey, if we change our uniforms every four or five years, we can sell much more merchandise". I mean, really-- the NBA's got some serious problems here. It all started when everyone got into teal and black sometime in the mid-90's. Since them teams just constantly change for no reason. (Although I do admit I like Phx's orange jerseys. And now this comment has come full circle.)

Dick Paris: I don't think you can use colour blindness as a reason. American sports are the only ones who seem to insist on a white/coloured matchup. Then again, British football teams will change one of their shirts every year. Shirts generally have a two year lifespan, so one year the home shirt gets changed, the next year the away shirt gets changed. As an example, see how the shirts of the hated Wolverhampton Wanderers has changed over the years.

I really really hope the Niners don't pull out the all gold uniforms that I saw on nflshop for a brief period of time.
