I was planning to attend some spring training games and Orlando City FC games, but I'm not going to attend any. We're hypercautious about respiratory illnesses because of relatives with ashtma.

Now that the Hurricanes' season is falling apart and State's basketball season is about done, my decision on whether to go to any games from here on out is easy to make.

I'm hoping that plenty of people panic--I'm going to be in Vegas in a couple of weeks, and wouldn't mind scoring some cheap tickets to watch them play the Stars. Lower bowl tickets for ~$50 are enough to make me risk a severe case of the sniffles.

I don't plan to miss any Celtics games because of the virus. It's not so much the presence of a crowd; rather, it's all of the surfaces one will touch, both at the game and on the T (public transportation for you non-Bostonians) getting to the game. I have gotten more careful about touching my face, particularly my eyes, and I am a lot more careful about washing my hands. I need to be careful because of my serving at church. Passing the Peace, administering the Chalice, and occasionally the wafers all involve personal contact. Copious use of hand sanitizer is required here.
I note that the virus is worse on the elderly and those with other health problems. I am less than a month away from my 79th birthday, am diabetic, and have an immune system that is slightly compromised because of medication for rheumatoid arthritis. Sounds like I have one foot in the grave, yet I am still active, and I am scheduled to work my first baseball game on April 14th. Come and get me, Covid 19, I am ready for you.

Tony Romo is prepared. He more than quadrupled his annual broadcast salary so he wouldn't have to make extra money sitting at a ratty beach desk answering a germ covered telephone while handling bottles of Corona beer.

We aren't. We need you here.

My problem isn't that I'm way too old for Sofia Vergara. It's that I'm way too old for Kathy Jacobs.

Y'all ready for a spicy hot bold prediction? No? Too bad, here it is anyway:
Carolina will win the ACC and then make it to the elite 8 this year. Sell your house, your car, your family, take the cash to Vegas and put it all on this.

Because all the teams seeded higher than them will be in quarantine?

Amazingly, I actually feel sorry enough for Carolina this year that I kind of hope that happens.

Since UNC is on UVa's side of the bracket I hereby rescind my previous statement.

Well, since you already took my advice to sell off everything you own and put it all down on UNC, you better root against your Hoos

Virginia grads can't do that, as we are chastened by the grim tale of onetime resident Edgar Allan Poe, burdened by debt, (alleged by some unverified legends to have been gambling-induced) having to chop up his furniture to use as firewood.

Howard, don't be daring no killer virus like that!

For SpoFites who attend sporting events, how many of you are going to stop or at least limit your attendance while this virus mess is going on?
