SportsFilter: The Thursday Huddle:
A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.
We are in agreement on this, tahoemoj. I am thinking about things that I might do here that might add some food for discussion. I don't know why the lack of content has happened, perhaps many of us are now more occupied with making a living or have moved on to other interests. Many of those who were regular contributors, whose comments were both enjoyable and insightful, no longer appear. I miss them. If they still look in once in a while, perhaps they could take the time to say hello and let us know they are well.
Maybe this news from the sports media world might start something.

Joe Burrow made a lot of people nervous when he said he wanted to go to a team that had a clear commitment to winning championships. He also said he didn't like Skyline chili.
Well, I guess the first part of it rules out the Lions.

I guarantee you, if Tim Tebow hijacked a helicopter and busted Jerry Sandusky out of prison during outdoor exercise time, this place would light up. Those two guys are the leading SpoFi comment generators. It would help if members of the Astros kept the prison guards distracted by banging on empty metal drums around the outer perimeter during the jailbreak.

Lucky for him, there's generally a Gold Star Chili right across the street from every Skyline.

I actually went to a pretty random MetaFilter meetup a while back, but it was at terrapin's place, so it also qualified as a SpoFi meetup. Matt Haughey also managed to show up somehow, and it was in Jessamyn's neck of the woods so she was there as well (but I don't know if she ever joined SpoFi).

I'd love to see the place more active. For some reason Google isn't sending us new traffic any more. If any members have SEO kung fu skills I'd love some advice for how to make us more visible.
I don't think Jessamyn ever joined. Where was that meetup?

Middle of Vermont. It just so happened to be on a day that I was already planning on driving through the area on my way to Boston, so I stopped by.

OK, so how do we get this place crack-a-lackin' again? i still like to pop open SpoFi every morning when I fire up my browser, but the norm lately is just an empty huddle (or a huddle with one or two beaverboard zingers). I miss the discussions, arguments, and even the pissing contests. Maybe not to the degree of the mid-oughts, but something close to that.
