Sapp blasts NFL 'slave system' :
"And so now there's a rule against me. Thanks. I knew (the league) was gonna do what they did because they've been notoriously against Sapp. Like I said before, it's a slave system. Make no mistake about it, slave master say you can't do it, don't do it. They'll make an example out of you."
I can't believe he got away with that bullshit for as long as he did. Arrington was right to speak up, not that Sapp would credit a fellow slave of reigning him in....and what's with the 3rd person reference.....anyone garfield knows that speaks like that is crazy.

Right on, exactly what I was thinking. Guys like Sapp wine and moan about how they have it so bad -- while they're sipping martinis on the back patio by their olympic-size pool and 10-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom mansion. Sapp, you're being paid to play football for a living. Most of us would trade places for a week to live that kind of luxury (and some even pay to do so every year, for example, at baseball fantasy camp.) Maybe next time, before he opens his big mouth, he'll stop, look around, realize how lucky he is, and just shut up.

Sapp's way off base here with the slavemaster reference. Is Sapp gonna tell me that if Romanowski was doing the same thing that he would get away with it? The NFL took a major step in attempting to curb excessive endzone celebrations. Them stepping up enforcement of this is a consistent and logical step. This is the National Football League, not professional wrestling.

Sapp demonstrates his stupidity, diminishes the genuine horror of slavery, and commits the hilariously idiotic gaffe of speaking about himself in the third person. All for the right to behave childishly in pre-game warm-ups. Cadenhead is getting very amused!

insomnyuk really wishes Arrington had taken Sapp's head off.

Like I said before, it's a slave system. Make no mistake about it, slave master say you can't do it, don't do it. Perhaps Warren should try getting a job in a steel mill and see what happens when he skips through the work area. He won't be fined. There wouldn't be a "new rule" put in to stop him from doing it. He'd be fired, and I'm all for that. Let's let Warren go work somewhere where they actually enforce the rules and see how long he lasts. Also, any American who isn't offended by Sapp pulling up the slavery issue in this context needs to be slapped. Hard.

sapp has a job, the job has rules, shut up and deal, or quit your job. Sapp has the option of quitting work altogether because of his job. If he's looking for sympathy from the hardworking masses he better not hold his breath.

Sapp seems to have some serious misconceptions about slavery ... I wish Lavar had just kept his mouth shut, let Sapp come running through the Skins warm-ups, and then pulled a Chad Clifton on Sapp's unpleasant person. You know it's a real shame ... I used to be a huge Sapp fan when he was at Miami. He was just a great football player who had a tremendous work ethic on the field. Now he's a loudmouth, he's seriously injured at least 2 guys I can think of (Jerry Rice's ACL and Clifton), and he is doesn't always play hard.

As a middle-class white male, I usually try to stay out of conversations like this, because hey, I've never really had to face a lot of adversity or discrimination in my 28 years in America. It's important to try and put yourself in someone else's shoes before commenting on stuff like this, and equally important to remember the cultural background that the speaker is coming from. Having said that - Are you fucking kidding me? Shut up, dick.

Sapp was fined $50,000 for bumping an official coming onto the field Sunday and so on. No mention of the slave master crack.

I'm sorry, did anyone envision a big white guy's ass when they read this?
Good, me neither.

Last I checked, slaves weren't paid millions a year to play a game. I thought this as soon as I heard the interview on CBS this past Sunday. Sapp is an idiot for saying this, and needs to take a step back and see how good he actually has it.
