Alabama Wins College Football Championship: The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Clemson Tigers 45-40 in the College Football Playoff National Championship, giving head coach Nick Saban his fourth title in only seven years. A 95-yard kickoff return by Kenyan Drake in the fourth quarter broke the game open for the Crimson Tide, giving them an 11-point lead with just 7:47 to go. Earlier in the quarter Alabama tied the game at 24, recovered a masterfully executed onside kick and got a 51-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Jake Coker to receiver O.J. Howard. The Tigers rallied late with a touchdown but the onside kick attempt failed.
It makes me wonder if you could sell sponsorship for our SpoFi pools.

Coker's getting frustrated. If they can't calm him down in the locker room, it's gonna be a looong second half for Bama. Or at least for Henry.

Is anyone watching the ESPN2 feed with coaches breaking down the game in real time? A little scattered, but cool.

Ha! I made a comment about the last onside kick, but you must have been updating the database with the title change and it ate the comment entirely.
I was saying that the last onside kick was timed perfectly, but had too much OOMPH on it. The apex of the big bounce was out of bounds. A little less, and that would have landed right in the scrum of players and...hey...you never know.

A shame Clemson didn't get that kick. That game should've ended on a hail mary attempt.

Last night's game definitely rounded out the season on an entertaining note after the snooze-fest that was the rest of the New Year's 6.

I actually like the trophy -- interesting design -- it lifts from its base and then becomes like a torch or a bouquet of flowers, or whatever else that's celebratory and conical.
(Yeah, I know...a Solo cup at a frat party).
Did Larry the Dr. Pepper guy really get to present the trophy? If so was he in character?
