Game On!: After 6 long months of negotiations, it took one extremely long night to get the NHL out of the boardroom and back on the ice.

A tentative deal to end the 113-day NHL lockout was reached Sunday morning at the end of a marathon 16-hour negotiating session.

“We have reached an agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement, the details of which need to be put to paper,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman told a news conference. “We’ve got to dot a lot of i’s and cross a lot of t’s. There’s still a lot of work to be done but the basic framework of the deal has been agreed upon.” “Hopefully within a very few days the fans can get back to watching people who are skating, not the two of us,” said Donald Fehr, executive director of the NHL Players’ Association.

Hope it's true, but I'll believe it when the first puck is dropped. At this point, Bettman's word does not carry a lot of credibility.

It's all over the Canadian sports channels now, so it's a done deal. Some of those reporters on TSN and Sportsnet have been up for 25 hours straight since the final bargaining began yesterday. They are looking a little punch-drunk and sound a bit giddy during their reports.

And so begins the long uphill trod to try to win back the fans, which one can only assume will be interrupted by Lockout 2017. Oh well, let's play some goddamn hockey!

Lucy Lockout left her puck out
Other team sports found it
Not a penny was there near it
Just a toe tag around it.

For the most part, hockey fans are pretty diehard. Most fans are just happier to have it back then bitter it was gone. I think so many people were worried they would cancel another season that the relief of not outweighs the fact the rich fighting caused us to miss 32 games, or 960 games if you want to be technical.
