Winthrop Coach Addresses Newtown Shooting: After his team's loss to No. 4-ranked Ohio State Tuesday night, Winthrop coach Pat Kelsey ended his post-game press conference with some impassioned remarks about the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School that claimed the lives of 20 first graders and six adults. "I'm not going to have a microphone like this the rest of the year, maybe the rest of my life," said Kelsey, the father of four- and five-year-old daughters. "When I walked into the press conference, I had never been in a chair with a microphone in front of me with that many cameras. Something came over me," the first-year coach said later.

That may well be THE BEST(not sure whether to call it a speech or impassioned plea) I've heard re: this tragedy.

As a concealed carrier I have a gun but something's gotta to change.

A lot of different things have to be evaluated in light of this appalling tragedy, from guns to drugs to mental health to violent entertainment.

Winthrop has been a guest at the spring dance before.

His team might win their conference and get back in this year. Fair to good chance of that.

Then he might be facing a 1 seed in the first round, and he'll get another good microphone to work with. He'll know how best to use it.
