Chara makes it very difficult to hate him.

I've heard from a couple of different TV talking heads that ever since the Pacioretty injury, he's been more careful about hitting people. As well, even when he was in Ottawa, he was hesitant to fight anyone simply because he was just so much bigger than everyone else, he was worried about injuring them. Instead, he'll embarrass a player that insists on fighting by "rag-doll-ing" him, by swinging him around and lifting him off the ice (like he did to Brian McCabe).

My fifth grader surprised me tonight by launching into a discussion about the importance of Title IX.

Ah, John Updike said it was the one sport you could watch while reading the paper. Seems like that guy just improved on it.

It appears that he was reading the book during an intentional walk. Not too egregious.

If it was a pitchout, then that's different.

I was trying to zoom in to see if the guy was reading Buddy Biancalana's autobiography.

I was watching the game, and noticed the book reader. It was Adam Lind's 9th inning at bat, he lined out to 3rd.

I remember Bergeron's first season in Boston. He was brutal in interviews, barely able to respond to even the simplest of questions. He's truly worked hard, and he has grown into a very articulate spokesman for the team. The article mentions Martin LaPointe being Bergeron's mentor in that first season. I remember there was a TV commercial for the TV broadcasts that showed LaPointe and Bergeron sharing a ride to work. Of course, they were commuting on a Zamboni while LaPointe's wife waved goodbye from the doorway. While rather 'cute', the commercial did give a sense of how team management made sure Bergeron would be properly guided.

Here's the photo I had seen of the book reader. On further viewing, it looks more like a pitchout. But I didn't see any video of Lind's at bat, just the stills.

I assume he was reading the book for more than one pitch, so maybe he'd show up in a lot of shots. Speaking of which, I imagine it's only a matter of time until he starts showing up in other pictures, like the pepper spraying cop or my favorite cigar guy.
