Accountant Signs With Dolphins: In a move guaranteed to someday be an uplifting film, Les Brown, who never played college football and was most recently employed as an accountant at an investment firm, has signed with the Miami Dolphins after impressing scouts during pro day at BYU (where his brother was an offensive lineman before graduating this year and another brother is currently a tight end). Brown is up against some stiff competition as a tight end (including Anthony Fasano), but he signed an NFL contract, and who among us can say that?
I can see him now, sitting on the sidelines wearing a green eye shade and frantically manipulating his calculator as he figures out salary cap problems. OK, really, with 2 football-playing brothers, this guy just might have enough to make it as a back up. If he doesn't make it, put him on IR, and let him work in the front office. It would save a front office salary.

On the other hand, he got himself pro level ready, but apparently still had some college eligibility remaining when he signed with Miami (still hasn't finished his degree). Maybe he could have gotten a year or two at a major Div 1 program with a scholarship.
Get a free degree plus a nice head of steam heading into pro workout days and the draft (and a fatter contract and bonus)...not a bad plan B.
Plus, your momma gets to see and hear Mel Kiper excitedly spit your name onto his flailing coat sleeves on live national TV.

As a Dolphins fan, this actually gives me something to cheer about heading into the season. And, as a Dolphins fan, at this point, I'll take just about any reason to cheer I can get...

I was going to surmise about the continuation of Dolphin jokes, but these are some nice figures if he can hold them at training camp. Could make a good backup; who knows where that could lead?
