Hidden: The Member Formerly Known as Terrapin: SportsFilter has asked Rick Scully, the longtime member formerly known as Terrapin, to help out as one of the moderators of the site. He's been a regular since 2002 and has contributed more than 1,500 comments to the site, and we're happy to have him aboard to, as former NFL umpire Ben Dreith would say, keep people from giving each other the business. Welcome!

Ah, crap. He's a Steelers fan;)
Scully, just remember that we share a love for the Gunners...
Cool beans.
Now get to work, there's cleanup needed in the huddle aisle, something about something spraying substances in the face...

I, for one, welcome our new llama-shearing, beer-swilling hippie overlord.

Thanks, all. Now get back to posting and commenting!

Am I the last one to figure out the name change? Moj, you big dummy.
I always feared a day when the hippies would be in charge; and now it's a reality. Peace, Jerry, Phish and all that good stuff.

Thanks Rick!
rcade: I've been doing a lot of JS and CSS (well, Sass) for work lately, let me know if I can help with any coding bits.

Welcome Rick! You wouldn't believe what being a moderator for a low-traffic sports based website will do for you when it comes to the ladies.
Oh, I forgot... you're married. I've got nothing.

What would SpoFi be without a Terrapin? Gee, I guess it would be Scully without a Mulder. Sounds like we might have a sane hand with the flag (or the whistle) in it. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go clean up my act.
Stinkin' mascots. They ain't nothin' but trouble. Mumble, grumble...

Now we just need to figure out a way to increase the user base.
posted by insomnyuk at 05:53 PM on January 20, 2012
My only immediate suggestion for that, insomnyuk, is for users who use Twitter to follow the SpoFi feed and "retweet" those posts they think will be interesting to their followers.

So, wait, we've added as a moderator some dude who advocated sheep f^&*ing as an Olympic sport? Or am I the only one who uses "shearing" that way? I must confess I did not read the post (or while away 20 minutes watching YouTube videos of Aussie and Kiwi shearmasters strut their stuff).
Kidding aside, I, for one, welcome our heritage breed sheep-raising overlords.

I walk a fine line. Don't let me be the example of your power.

MrFrisby likes this.
MrFrisby thinking it be long time since MrFrisby see a good 'pile on the n00b' thread. MrFrisby wonder if it because they just don't happen anymore or because MrFrisby not log on much anymore.

JerseyGirl not log on much anymore either. My new overlord, JerseyBaby does not allow for even lurking now. Congrats Terrapin, er Rick!

I figure I'll just have to interview myself soon ;)

Kirk, Gary and I are glad to have Rick's help. With this move, I'm able to step back from moderation and focus on coding the site.
