Washington State Hires Mike Leach: Washington State has hired former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach to take over its football program. Leach won 84 games over 10 seasons at Tech before being fired over a dispute regarding his handling of receiver Adam James while he was recovering from a concussion. Washington State has not been to a bowl game since 2003.
I think Washington State is a good fit for him. Expectations are low and the offense-minded PAC suits his style. As long as he stays away from recruiting the children of ESPN personnel, he should be fine.

I'm glad Leach is back in coaching, but he missed a golden opportunity for revenge against Tech by not waiting just a few more days for the vacancy at A&M.

It would have been problematic for a Texas state school to hire Leach, since he's still engaged in suing Tech.

I am surprised it took him so long to get off the bread line. Other baggage coaches with more apparent risk have gotten hired more quickly after a fall from grace.
However, take away the conference WSU plays in, and accepting a posting to Pullman is more or less the equivalent of entering the witness protection program.
