Kicking Queen: Brianna Amat, 18, of Pinckney High School in Ann Arbor, kicked the game-winning field goal against rival Grand Blanc on the same night that she was crowned homecoming queen (via MetaFilter).

Good for her. My HS and College both used soccer guys to kick. Maybe the school only has womens soccer and she was the best they have. Aliquippa HS, a school that makes it to states pretty regularly, has no soccer and NEVER has a kicker. They usually go for two, but this is because they have too. I remember a few years ago they had a guy that could kick and the home crowd would go crazy everytime they kicked an extra point. While I doubt women can compete physically at the college level and up, but this is not the first HS woman we have seen.
