How sports narratives are REALLY built

Why does nobody seem to care that Barry Bonds is paying for college for the kids whos dad was beaten at the the LA game. Is he really that hated??

I dunno Debo, one of the sports talk shows on ESPN mentioned it, either Around the Horn or PTI did and gave Bonds props, so it hasn't been totally ignored.

I don't think it's ignored.

There are hockey players who provoke and antagonize and often carry things too far, but this was not Boogaard's style. His presence was stately. He was more Gary Cooper than Charles Bronson.

I hadn't heard about that Barry Bonds story.

And of course the media won't really give it much play because it doesn't fit the "society is fucked, here's a war, some celeb put his cock in his hired help, and somebody died" mentality.

Mike Emrick and Pierre McGuire getting the call = TV on mute for the Lightning Bruins game.

A rather complicated double-play.
