The fun never ends: New FIFA corruption accusations emerge at a UK parliamentary hearing about six purchaseable votes (out of 24, IIRC).

Teachers to buy TD stake in Maple Leaf Sports

FIFA is just despicable. As a longtime fan of F1 I loathe the FIA, but FIFA are something else!

I am watching the Red Wings Sharks game with the TV muted. I can't stand Mike Emrick. Every time a player takes a hard shot, he calls it a "drive." It's not golf. It's a shot, not a drive. Plus Pierre McGuire is between the benches. Definitely mute. I miss Gary Thorne and Bill Clement from when the NHL used to be on ESPN.

Does that mean the Leafs have to do it over and over again until they get it right?

Now Brian Burke, write 100 times on the blackboard, "I will get players to take the team to the playoffs."

The team is very profitable without having to invest in players or assemble a winning team, don't count on any changes for the better soon.

Even if Burke had money and draft picks he'd probably squander them in another Kessel 'istic type deal. (They need another player to challenge for the league +/- title .. um, on the minus end.)

Kessel's had back-to-back 30 goal seasons for Toronto, while Seguin is currently sitting in the press box for the first two rounds of the playoffs. It's not a disaster deal just yet.

Besides, Toronto exacted revenge on the Bruins by giving them Kaberle...

Yes, but he's -20 placing him 877th out of 891 NHL players. If Kessel doesn't play at all the Leafs are 20 goals better and probably a playoff team this year.

Kaberle was +6, +4 while with the Leafs. I don't like his game or attitude either, but he had talent and was effective.

Seguin was -4, and hasn't dressed for the playoffs because he is young and in a better organization.

.. Longing for days Past

Thankfully I was able to watch the game on Fox Sports Detroit.

He did wonders for the Boston power play...

Yeah...that's not how that works.

By your logic, if the Leafs only allowed their six plus players to play (Grabovski, Boyce, Kulemin, Colborne, Lashoff, Brown), they would have been 32 goals better than they were this year, and DEFINITELY would have made the playoffs.

I sit and pray he gets hit in the dome with a puck everytime he does a Pens game.

Plus/minus is a terrible hockey stat. You'll find more often than not that on winning teams most people are plus. On losing teams most people are minus.

And it doesn't factor in the biggest reason for success or failure in hockey... The goalie.
