Auburn Meets Oregon for BCS Title: Ten days into the New Year, the Auburn Tigers and Oregon Ducks play tonight in Phoenix for college football's thirteenth Bowl Championship Series title game. "Auburn will hammer Oregon," predicts Tom Dienhart of Rivals.Com. The line for the game is Auburn by 2 1/2 points with a huge over-under of 74 points. Oregon will be wearing a sedate new uniform by their standards, aside from the neon socks. "They have become their own aesthetic category," says sports uniform geek Paul Lukas.

The bowl season drags on way too long.

Almost all of the bowls worth watching have happened in the past ten days.

Previous displays of this year's Oregon title game uni had included a white helmet, which was a bad idea. They wore white hats in last year's bowl game which didn't go well, plus they would be too similar to the opponent's helmets this year.

The creative Oregon uniform aesthetic likely helps enhance the allure of the school during recruiting. Some of those combos are graphic novel ready. Must be some high school standouts going wide-eyed at the possibility of togging up in diamond plate and feathers.

However, the interior linemen don't always look well in some of the sets. Ouch.

Thankfully, Oregon is able to back up the fashion show with great play. If they dressed like that and got schooled every week, it would be problematic.

Looking forward to seeing how other schools do when they decide to ramp up their own uniform enhancement program. Some could get it horribly wrong. Not everyone has Phil Knight's design resources standing by.

Both teams have been really hot lately, so.....oh wait. They haven't had a game in over a month.

Yeah, it used to be great when everything was wrapped up on Jan. 1, or shortly after. Pretty soon this game will be played in early February, probably the day before the Super Bowl.

Actually, that would be a great weekend of football.

Yeah, dyams, could you imagine both sets of playoffs leading up to that weekend, oh wait... that's right, college football doesn't have a playoff system--my bad.
